I just finished getting most of my systems and such plugged into my new HDTV, and I'm having a problem with my System Selector Pros. One refuses to output component at all, and the other one acts like two strip Technicolor (i.e., red and green, but no blue). Another, smaller switcher works fine, as does composite via the SSP. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem.

More than likely, the system selector you purchased is defective. I bought system a system selector that would not output from one of the connections. I returned it and bought another one and it worked fine.

That usually means you've mixed up the cabling and swapped the blue for the green somewhere down the line. I do it all the time because the colors look so similar in the dark behind my entertainment center. That, or one of them isn't plugged in tight enough.

^^ What he said, plus doublecheck the cables themselves. One bad set of cable going from the selector to the TV will give you bad results with all systems via component.

If that is all tested out, and the problem remains, then it's likely the selector.

I know that the cheaper Pelican selectors are good for about 5-10 cable insertions/removals before the solder joints break internally. This thing seen a lot of action?

Until yesterday, only the composite stuff had ever been used, and I've had both for a couple of years now.

I've had to resolder 2 of the jacks of my Pro PL-960 (the one with 8 component inputs) in the first insertion. The jacks aren't screwed to the case, so when you push them hard you could break the solder joints. (Those Xbox component cables are a PIA to connect. They are pretty tight.)

I also have a Pro 2.0 and had a problem similar to your second one (one color missing). After testing with other inputs and the cables I opened the Pro 2.0 and saw that some solder was shorting two points in the board. After removing the solder it worked like a champ. I don't know if yours has the same issue, but open it and see if you can notice something wrong.

I don't know what could be happening to the one that doesn't output in component. Sorry.
