I recently got a ps2 and the CD-rom makes a grinding noise when opening and closing, also when loading. I read online that it might just need some grease but I'd love to hear DP's thoughts on this. I've put in all sorts of discs and everything plays fine it just makes a nasty grinding noise that even drowns out my 360.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
It's a PS2 fat if that helps any.
Thanks

Ok to fix it do this: the grinding noise for when your tray comes out- Just put some white grease on the track of the disc tray.
grinding noise for loading games- if you open your ps2 and look at your laser you will see either a plastic or metal piece on the right hand side of the laser. This piece is lined up on the threaded metal piece connected to the motor . Take the piece metal/plastic and bend it closer to the threaded metal piece. To top it of grease that threaded metal piece and you should be all set.

When is the last time you fed the hamster inside? They start to grumble when you don't feed them.

Thanks, I'll try this out. What is white grease?
