Well, I've almost beat Days of Ruin. The last battle keeps schooling me. I have, however, taken the opportunity to design some maps and try them out. Is anyone else here trying the wi-fi battles, or have an cool maps. Also does anyone know if you can trade maps over the Nintendo newtwork. I know you can do it over local wi-fi, but it looks like the Nintendo network limits you to 10 x 10 size maps which are tiny. I've love to try a wi-fi battle, but I never can find anyone on the worldwide network.

I have a map I designed. I like it, I haven't tried Wi-Fi yet though. Although I wouldn't mind doing it.

The last level is killing me also. I think the key is taking the factory on the bottom right, And then keeping it.
Has anyone else noticed that Days of Ruin is more difficult then Dual Strike? Most of the battles end with me destroying the other players army. In Dual Strike most of the battles were won by capturing the Capitol City.
I still have over 40 Hours into the game with the main story and some side maps. No Wi-Fi for me yet.

They seem to defend the capitol a lot better now, but I haven't had that much trouble winning the missions. I lost one around 14 or 15 once, but then did fine. I think they're easier on the grades too or else I'm just getting better cause I got A or S rank on most of them.
As for the last battle, that stupid cannon ball thing always nails me when I'm getting on a roll. I can only kill one laser. I can't defend the eastern advance while keeping down the auto factories on the fortress. Anytime I get some units together that bitch drops the ball on me. I've tried spreading my units out but then he routs me. I've also tried mixing into his so he'd friendly fire himself, but his units are usually stronger and he kills them before the ball drops. I have to think a bit about it, I think getting him to put his units in the line of fire is the way to go. He'll kill some of my units, but he'll do more damage to himself. Kinda like the first great owl mission. I just kept running bike units into the bombing area and he'd send his units in to kill them and they'd all get blown to bits. Meanwhile I trudged to the south and worked my way up the east of the map.
Btw, I made an awesome 30 x 30 map, took me 143 days to win. about 10 hours over 2 days. probably the longest battle I've ever had, but was a good fight.

I picked this up last week as part of the 20% off CC deal, but then I came across a copy of dual strike this week used at gameslop. man is this game fun... some of these battles seem to take forever...LOL..... Once I finish Dual Strike and move on to DOR I will be glad to play some wi-fi matches...

i havent played days of ruin yet, but i am a fan and played the other three. id like to say that the last battle in those games is *always* a *lot* harder than pretty much everything youve encountered so far, i may even go as far as saying as its a little unbalanced and the rest of the game doesnt quite prepare you for it (at least that how i felt in some of the earlier games). ill pick this game up when i can get it for ~$20. till then final fantasy tactics is eating my life (and eyeballs)

you dont have to play any of the first three since days of ruin is a completely new game/story/characters/world/universe etc.
the first three however are all direct sequels and continuous story.

no, they are third person shooters with *extremely* mild strategy elements. they were gonna be called Advance Wars (instead of battalion wars) but nintendo felt it was too much of a step away from the gameplay gamers are used to.
technically the games are set in the same universe, but i dont know if the characters/story are the same. i only played battalion wars 1 for about 30 minutes. its very fun i have to say, probably the best shooter for the gamecube (havent played the wii game).

Finally beat the last level. I had to rethink my strategy a few times. If you can stop the production of enemy units on the east side of the map it makes life a lot easier.
