I'm new here, but before I formally introduce myself I've got a quick question. Will a Wavebird wireless Gamecube controller be compatible with a Wii? Thanks in advance for your answers.

yes. why wouldnt it.

as far as i know, the only gamecube peripheral/software that ISNT compatible w/ the wii is the Gameboy Player.

Yes, the Wavebirds work with the Wii, which is why you can't find them in stores anymore, and their value has really shot up on Ebay.

Off to a few pawn shops I go in search of a few.

Just a reminder to possibly save you some trouble. The GC port order on the Wii is opposite of the original Gamecube hardware configuration. At least the way I look at mine vertically. Just remember that the player 1 port is in the front on the Wii.

When I dl'ed Sin and Punishment I nearly had a conniption when my Wavebird was completely unresponsive and the "You will need the Classic controller" message would not go away. Only to dump me back to the main menu after a bit. Turned out, I had the RF dongle plugged into the player 4 port. :embarrassed: Not one of my best moments as a gamer... stop laughing at me! :p

No luck on a wavebird, but I did find a Pelican third party wireless controller for 5 bucks I figured it was worth a shot

For $5, yeah. In my experience Wavebirds go for $20 - $25 at pawns (I think Gamestop is even in that range as well) YMMV. I've seen one for $15 and that's the best used price I've found in the wild.
