Maybe the more appropriate question is WHY? I am amazed at how many add ons are available for the Wii, especially since they are all for the controller. My favorite is the one that is a complete knight set, complete with shield, sword and some other accessories. But seriously, why?

But seriously, why?
Because sadly, they sell. Surprising amounts too.

The iPod is the same way. There are tons of cheap, pointless accessories. It's a waste of plastic, money, and retail shelf space.
My favorite is the one that is a complete knight set, complete with shield, sword and some other accessories.
Wow, I've never seen that one. I imagine a child under the age of ten would find it fun, but any adult who uses it must look hilarious.

Why was there so many Nes controllers? Because some idiot somewhere wants one, and are willing to shuck out the cash just so they can feel like link.

Welcome to Hong Kong ... where any excuse to make inexpensive perhiperals for game systems is a good one.
What's that? We don't have to incorporate any electronics in said perhipherals?
EVEN BETTER!
My personal favorite is the Cooking Mama add-on spoon, knife, and fork attachments ...
though, what you're supposed to do with those folded-down parts while holding the controller is beyond me.

That gun with the laser is useless, it used a different button for the trigger than any other Wii gun attachment and no gun game yet supports mapping the fire button to the button it uses.
I also have the wheel, its nothing special, I just end up holding the Wiimote without it since its more comfortable.

Quoted for truth. And they don't cost much to produce.
