My wife got me one of those Wii Points cards with 2,000 points on it. So now I'm figuring out how I want to spend it. I have never downloaded anything for the virtual console so this is all new to me.

I would prefer to try and get any 2 player games (if available) so we could both play if she wanted, and I am thinking of focusing on Turbo Grafix or NES titles (they tend to be cheaper from what I see). So what are the best games available in your opinions?

Also, is there a schedule of VC titles to be released in the future, in case I want to hold off on using my points? Are any other systems slated to be available on VC?

Thanks for any input!

I got a points card for xmas,

I bought Sin & Punishment (2 players) and Super Mario Bros 2: Lost Levels. I figure that I should buy stuff that I can't readily get via normal channels (ie eBay or DP buy/sell forum) and stuff that i'd not be able to play due to a lack of US release.

That's using your noggin.

You can go to Hudson's site and see some of their upcoming releases, but Nintendo's put the kibosh for the most part on people giving out info on future VC releases early.

The next systems that will be added are Sega Master System and WiiWare (small games made by independent developers).

http://www.vc-reviews.com/ has reviews of every VC game out. It's a good place for getting info.

I have reviews of some of the VC games at http://hkfilm.net/vidgame/vcreviews

Some of my favorites from the NES and Turbo are: Blades of Steel, Devil's Crush, Castlevania, Donkey Kong, Galaga '90, Gradius, Metroid, Ninja Spirit, Punch Out, and Splatterhouse.

Sin & Punishment is a no brainer. I own the original N64 cart AND the JP ROM, but I still bought the VC title as it's the only way to experience the game in English.

Lost Levels is another good idea, although that's something that's more accessible via traditional emulation.

Hopefully they will translate more text-heavy Japanese famicom/SFC/PCE games and throw them on Virtual console.

Oh, and where's my Blazing Star on the NG section? WTF?

I thought Sin & Punishment was always English voice with Japanese subs... if it was translated for english speaking markets then why isn't the subs in english also? Or are you referring to the menus and settings?

Need an extra 100 points for S&P and Alien Soldier but, I heartily recommend getting Alien Soldier (GEN - 900 pts) sometime down the line.

If you don't have the internet browser then get it also. Nothing like surfing the net on a big screen.

...only if you have a HDTV though. Most sites look like crap on a SDTV.

My choices are usually the TurboGrafx games, Gunstar Heroes, that game looks great on the VC.

That must be why WebTV is so popular. :)
