I took this to mean that if I wanted to own a copy of this game for the PC, I'd better get on ebay and order the region-free DVD from a seller in India...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180206732549&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=008
cause apparently this game is only being distributed as a digital download here in the US now... Gamestop/EB sells it that way, but Amazon doesn't sell it in any form for PC... all you'll find for sale there are the console versions...
it seems that it was released for the PC in foreign markets around the same time that all the console versions hit the shelves here in the US... and most PC gamers in those markets thought it sucked... so now us PC gamers here in the US will never get a nice shiny collectible DVD of Juiced 2, in a fancy case with a fancy manual, to sit next to our nice shiny collectible CD's of Juiced 1, in a fancy case with a fancy manual, unless we go on ebay and order the region-free DVD from a seller in India... who prolly works for THQ, or some other company that's related to THQ in some way... yep, the suits released all the glitz and glamour overseas before deciding how to handle the release of the PC version here in the US... and then they decided that if you were so hardcore that you actually cared about owning a collectible copy of Juiced 2 on DVD for PC, you'd be hardcore enough to figure out that the suits are only distributing nice shiny collectible copies of it through ebay sellers in India...
so color me hardcore all over this shit, I guess... cause surely this game will prove to be a rare collector's item someday... the only sequel ever released in an abandoned franchise... and even if the franchise is revived someday, to own Juiced 2 for the PC on DVD, in English, complete with case and English manual, is going to be a very rare priviledge indeed... even if the game does suck... but I never thought that Juiced 1 sucked, so how bad can it be?
and this whole thing that I'm having to go through to get a collectible copy of this game is actually quite fascinating... especially with this particular seller... after sending my payment via paypal, I received an email from the seller with a coupon code for a massive 3% discount on top of future already discounted prices, and a most unusual message about their shipping policy:
"The PC Gaming Store wishes to inform you that we have used 100% Natural Hand Woven Cloth for packing your order. No paper (not even recycled paper), machine manufacturered cloth, or any other non-environment friendly substance has been used. Though this means a more expensive and time-consuming packing, it is our little contribution for a greener tomorrow."
so now I'm not just hardcore for ordering a collectible copy of this game on DVD from the PC Gaming Store in India, I'm green as hell for doing so too! LOL
I wonder if the 100% Natural Hand Woven Cloth happens to be Hemp Cloth? in any case, this sure as hell beats buying a bland digital download from Gamestop/EB... I'm being treated like a king by the PC Gaming Store in India! :king:
I think this also explains why http://www.juiced2hin.com/ is still under construction now, and prolly always will be... so there prolly won't even be any official online racing for the PC version now... cause everybody knows that if this game is gonna make any money at all, it's gonna do it on the consoles, and console gamers are used to being spoiled, not suffering...
and as for us American PC gamers, as far as THQ is concerned, the official word on where our PC version of Juiced 2 can be purchased is right here:
http://www.thq.com/store/upc.php?upc=49320
what? you wanted a nice shiny DVD, with a fancy case and a fancy manual, like all the console gamers got? well then surely you're desperate enough to search ebay for it, and we'll happily outsource a copy of it to you from India...
we gamers live in very strange times indeed now... especially us American PC gamers... cause it's becoming more and more common that if we want a nice shiny DVD in a fancy case with a fancy manual, then we're gonna have to import it... no domestic release of all that glitz and glamour for you, American PC gamer! you want game? you download game! you do have broadband, don't you? so use it... and if you don't have broadband, get it... cause you'll be needing it! we no sell you nice shiny DVD with case and manual no more! :bad-words:
