Assistance needed in identifying a game (PS2 related)

Getting stuck on a sliding puzzle while playing Professor Layton on the DS jarred a memory of a PS2 game that featured some sliding puzzles-but I have no idea of the title of the game, nor does Tune. I'll list some things we can remember:

1. The puzzles involved roman numerals and colors, and lining up one or both.
2. A library was involved in finding these puzzles.
3. Unsure if they were required to progress the game. Don't think they were.
4. It may or may not be an RPG.
5. There were multiple puzzles, each increasing in difficulty.

Google has not been my friend in my quest. I know I'm going to feel like a dumbass once I find out what game it was.

You had to rearrange books in a library in Kingdom Hearts. I'm not sure if roman numerals were involved but, color was most definitely used. That's what immediately came to my mind. Hope that helps.

There were some in Resident Evil 4, but, I am pretty sure that is not it.

You can also rule out God of War (I or II).

I seem to remember some puzzles from Xenosaga Episode III when my roommate was playing it. Could that be it?

100% certain that's not it.

We've been thinking it was in Kingdom Hearts II or Suikoden IV, but extensive searches of online FAQs and actual strat guides yielded nothing.

Do you think you can narrow it down? Was it a 2d game? How long ago it was when you played it? I'm thinking either Tekken 2 or Eye Toy Kinetic but that's just a hunch.

Could it possibly be Magna Carta: Tears of Blood? it's been a long while since I played the game, but i vaguely remember something similar to that.

I think Silent Hill 3 involved something along that nature, but like an on going theme in this thread, I haven't played that game in awhile.

Sounds like Kingdom Hearts II. Silent Hill 3 did have a puzzle but I do not think it was that involved. Although it is still worth searching online to see.
