NTSC-J PS2 problem

I've got a slim japan ps2. It reads ps1 games and ps2 blue games. But it makes funny whirring noises when it tries to load the clear-dvd looking games. It won't load them all the time, but when it does load, there are no problems. Whats up?

ps2 is always real simple to diagnose. If it is having problems like yours then it is either dirty or going bad. To fin out clean it. If you still have problems then your laser is going bad and is a good lesson to not buy a slim ps2 but an older fat one.:-D

I've cleaned it, and it reads all my games except fist of the north star,which it has problems with. It shouldn't be wearing out, the system isn't a year old yet. I guess it really hates that disc.

My slim PS2 was having problems loading certain dvd's, but the games always work fine. Hopefully it's not a sign that my laser is going wonky.
