Hey, everyone! I'm new to the forum, having mostly just viewed the prototype board from time to time. Today, I scored my first proto - Ultima: The Black Gate for SNES! It has always been my dream to own a proto of a game that was never released, and even though this game was released, it still feels great to be able to say that I have a proto! Here's hoping my next one will be of an unreleased game!

It was up on ebay as a buy it now only item. It was listed in the stores section, so Lord only knows how long it was there. I know it was long enough that at least 3 offers were made. The seller said that if a buyer didn't like his price, they could make him an offer, and when I took the game at the buy it now price ($85, which seems cheap compared to most protos I've seen), I took a look at the offers. Naturally, it didn't tell me how much was offered, but two of them were turned down by the seller, while a third expired. I figured $85 wasn't bad at all for a proto, even if the game made it to market, so I went ahead and paid him the $85. I don't think I'll have any luck finding any protos in the wild since I don't live in a state that was home to any developers.

Don't ever write it off as far as finding a proto in the wild it happens often enough and I've actually found a proto in a Salvation army as well, just keep looking because you never know.

I still doubt I'll ever see one in Kentucky, but I'm always keeping my eyes out for stuff. Even if I don't find one locally, though, the important thing is that I at last have a proto! Now to get one that wasn't released!

Not a proto collector, but I can say that I've found all kinds of good stuff in Kentucky (and southern Indiana) -- so you never know! Keep checking out your favorite (and sometimes not-so-favorite) stores.

fantastic score 80s_Gamer keep up the great attitude and good stuff's gonna come your way. U: the Black Gate was a real favorite I played on pc and later on SNes :) Its interesting how hey kept some parts the same and what was changed. I think the SNes vesion is superb in its own right . That is a great proto -to get first off and it must be nice geting a big rarity of a game as nice as one from the ultima series
