I just beat Red Steel for wii and I was wondering how does the gaming community feel about this game.
I feel it isn't as bad as people make it out to be. It was a very good launch title and the graphics are pretty good for a wii game. The only think I hated were the transitions scenes were it looks like paper dolls are being moved and the mechanics were of a little bit.
Just give me some feed back on this game, please.
P.S. if you are thinking about getting this game you should rent it or get it used because once you beat it there is no real reason to play again unless you really have free time and want to completet it with 105% completion. The multiplayer is pretty bad too.

It's a decent game. I didn't think it was as bad as many reviews made it look to be. The aiming and moving is a bit sloppy, but it's no where near as bad as Far Cry. I do like the art style of the game, but the story is pretty awful, and you can't skip the cutscenes.
I did have to quit playing the game, though, because there's a pretty damn big jump in the difficulty level (the part where the ninjas attack your dojo) and it was getting fustrating playing the same level over and over since you can't save mid-level (a really bad design decision).

My opinion might be influenced by the Wii hype, but I got a wii on day 1 and this was one of the games. I really did enjoy it (especialy the "carnival" type level). I loved the shooting but felt the sword play was unfinished. Overall a good game IMO.

I thought the carnival level was pretty good too. The voice acting needed some help, but it did kind of set the theme for the game. The first time I played I thought it was the control setup was pretty cool, but a little sloppy. I'm pretty sure this game has dropped in price.

Got it as a present just after I got my Wii. The controls were pretty bad and the game was really glitchy in places. It felt unfinished and I didn't find it to be much fun so I traded it in.

Mediocre. Wasn't a terrible game, but it had so much hype behind it....

I actually enjoyed the game, And it's ALOT better then made out to be.
I'll agree with the scenes though. They just look stupid.

Shit sandwich.
Mmmm... sandwiches made from feces...
I haven't played the thing yet, but I did pick it up when it was 7.99 at CC. At least I don't have high expectations.

I haven't played it, but where opinions are concerned, I enjoyed Mega64's Red Steel sketch ...

Shooting good, swording debatable. It's also an amazingly weeaboo game. But, I enjoy it well enough. The shooting controls are pretty awesome, it's nice to be able to FPS without hunkering over the keyboard or wishing for mouse support while missing due to funky joystick sensitivity for the Nth time. I would like to see more games with that control scheme happen. I think it's a fairly ugly looking game but I think a lot of that is down to my shitty TV.

Far from perfect but a good launch title. I enjoyed the game and looking forward to the sequel.

Not a "This Is Spinal Tap" fan are you?
[reading a review of the album "Shark Sandwich"]
Marty DiBergi (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001661/): The review for "Shark Sandwich" was merely a two word review which simply read "Shit Sandwich".

I'm assuming you haven't seen the movie. It's a "mockumentary" about a fake band.
I would like to see more games with that control scheme happen.
Medal of Honor Heroes 2 and Call of Duty 3 control pretty well IMO, and it's pretty much agreed by all that Metroid Prime 3 has some of the best console FPS controls ever. Stay away from Far Cry though... the control on there (especially in vehicles or when you're in "predator mode") is awful.

I did enjoy the game, and yes MP3 was better.
As for the "no save in level" crap, come on the levels were like 30 mins long (bunny level was a bit longer) and if you died you could start from a specific point in the level which allowed progress.
I think the one thing that really took getting used to was the zooming in and out. This was nice for the sniper rifle, but on the guns it did take some getting used to and I pretty much gave it up as I found the standard view was the best.
Again it wasn't the most polished game (as mentioned) but for a 3rd party launch title I found it enjoyable and playable. I can't belive this game was bashed so much.

Boatofcar's quote is directly from the movie. It's Spinal Tap's response after hearing the "Shit Sandwich" review for the first time.

I don't have time to keep doing the same 30 minutes so I could keep dying due to the glitchy swordfighting control. The whole "no save points" thing is an antiquated bit of design IMO.
I'm at the point in my gaming "life" that if something gets frustrating or aggravating, I'll just shut the game off. Life's too short to get pissed off at a game...

I thought most of the reviews on this game were spot on. A very below average game, huge disappointment.

I don't see anything wrong with requiring someone to redo a level because they turn the game off, and most in-level restart points were right near the big sword fights. The guy outside the helicopter and that chick that dropped from the building I remember being tough. I found that you have to use combos and all you need is a few of those and you can win most fights. Also learning your opponent was key (in sword fights), some you were better off not attacking.
Again the game has it flaws, and I'm not trying to make this game of the year, but it can be enjoyable and a little bit of a challenge.

It is an alright title, I was psyched for it and then I was completely pissed by the spinning screen when my wii remote went off of the sensor bars area.

I thought Red Steel was AWESOME. Sure, the swordslashing has severe flaws, but I think more sophisticated motion controls will be as ubiquitous in 2018 as 3D graphics were in 2006, and traditional controls will be as superceded as 2D graphics are by 3D ones.
Imagine Red Steel in 2018, that makes it an awesome game today. Just wait. I don't like making any crazy predictions, but I wouldn't be suprised if the next generation of gamers will look at a 360 control the same way kids these days look at an Atari joystick - as a relic.

I really, really enjoyed the FPS part of Red Steel (which is thankfully the majority of the game), but the swordfighting kinda sucked. I didn't mind the general idea of it, but I simply could not get the game to consistently recognize my movements whenever I tried to do a special move. I went through every sword fight without using any special moves because of it. I couldn't even get through the sword training.

How can you say that, the game is only 14 months old!
Based upon your prior post in another thread "The demise of Nintendo is almost upon us", I cannot take this evaluation seriously.

I completely forgot about this old thread.
What's your point? in ten years the game will be 11 years old. Don't you understand that? You have to have faith. Single-minded guys like you always look to the past. Don't be an obstacle for progress.
Ok, my old prediction was a bit off, but this one is on target. My old prediction covered two years, this one ten years. Besides, if something sells well it has a bright future. You'll see, oh you little of faith!! :p

In with another post before the lock!
Awesome... as if enough of the Nintendo mafia weren't already pissed at you- now you're just looking for fights (and the dust hasn't even settled yet). Let's see how long before this one is locked.

I know I'm new to this forum, but I started this thread so I could get some feed back on Red Steel. I really didn't want this to become a stupid argument. Could you guys please stop bashing the lendelin. he made a bad prediction and hey everyone has been there, so please stop making this thread turn into a argument over something so stupid as whether Red Steel is going to be a classic game or not.
Thank you

Yeah Captainfalcon... but he's not being serious. He and some Nintendo loyalists duked it out in another thread about the merits (or lack thereof) of the Wii- then he's shown up in a few Wii themed threads praising the Wii sarcastically. And it's just a little irritating that it's overflowed into other threads. FYI, the "Wii Argument" pops up in the forums on a regular basis and it's really best to steer away from the threads.
Here's what I'm talking about.
