Recently the Xbox 360 has caught my attention, Then I began to notice on Ebay alot of them we're broken with three red lights. Has this happened to anyone else?. And does it play original Xbox games?.

Are you being serious? Have you read any gaming magazines, or read any of the gaming news sites like Kotaku or Joystiq over the last 2 years? Heck, do you even read the threads here on DP that come up with great regularity?
Yes Xbox 360's have had RRoD (the 3 red rings of death) and its been well documented. People instead of calling MS and sending off their system toss it on ebay to try and sell it. Yes it was fairly common with the older hardware revisions. Newer heat syncs and new chip sets have been the predominant setup the last 6 months and RRoD issues have dropped dramatically in the new systems, older ones are still dying, but MS is fixing RRoD failure systems for free.
We've got numerous threads here in Modern Gaming that are talking about not only having RRoD but what games they were playing when it went out, and other threads chronicling peoples problems with the system. Take a little time and read back a few pages, you'll find all kinds of info that you didn't know about.
The system does play many original XBox games. No it doesn't play them all, and no it doesn't play all the popular ones. Check out XBox.com for the full list of BC games.
I'm locking this because all this info is all over these boards and this thread will only turn into a flamewar and i'm not going to let that happen.
