Ok I plan to buy and begin collecting DC soon. Gonna buy brand new in box with a VGA box. Then lots of games. Imports to which means I'll need a boot disc could someone hook me up with one of those?

Also interested in these games:

segaga-can this be played without speaking/reading japanese?
also how much is seaman with mic worth? I found a copy for $80

Don't bother with Segagaga without any knowledge of Japanese. You "can" play it with a guide, to the extent that you can play any Japanese RPG with a good guide, but it's not worth it IMO.

Seaman is certainly not worth $80, perhaps unless it's sealed, and even then, probably not. I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it.

get a gameshark for a boot disk. It works just fine.

Keep in mind a fair number of games do not work with the VGA box. I'd guesstimate 50% officially support it, 25% do not officially support it but work, and 25% don't work.

From what I've heard, Segagaga is horrendous. And Seaman is a fun game, but I think $80 is a bit much.

By horrendous you must mean hilarious. It's pretty impossible to get anywhere without help but there are people out there working on translations...maybe someday. Some glorious day.

If you're plpanning on playing mostly Japanese games, I'd suggest using the DC Region Changer (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=es&u=http://foros.dciberia.net/viewtopic.php%3Ft%3D91&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=4&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Ddreamcast%2Bregion%2Bchanger%2B1.7%26 hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26sa%3DG). Saves having to use a boot disc every time.

A very professional translation of Segagaga is in the works, read more here (http://www.1up.com/do/my1Up?publicUserId=5772603).

Those numbers are way of based on my experience. Of the 150 or so DC games I have, only 6 (KoF:DM'99, Last Blade 2, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Lack of Love, PawaPuro Yakyu and Bangai-o) don't support the VGA box at all, plus one more that I don't own anymore (DDR: 2nd Mix). So, that's about 5%, which I figure is probably pretty accurate.

If you're in Europe and most of your games are PAL, that mayt explain why you've had worse luck. VGA support was taken out of many PAL releases (in order to allow interlaced RGB support, I think). The average for PAL releases may indeed be closer to 25%

Or burn the CDX demo for free. Google is your friend.
