This is just absolutely ridiculous. I am so very glad that my tax dollars are helping fund this. Bush is once again keeping us safe from those evil terrorist gamers.

Sounds dumb to me.

We whine about how gamers arent taken seriously but the idea that an online game with millions of users in many countries could be used as a communication or recruitment tool for Terrorism? Ridiculous! Its just a game.

You never know. It could... but considering... It's just... improbable. I think they're just fishing in the dark.

This sounds like a cracknut theory of a 50 year old who has never played online video games.

I'm so glad my tax dollars are protecting us from virtual terrorists...

Hey man, this isn't a joke. If terrorists can destroy our imagination, they can destroy WoW.

Actually, if I were a terrorist, I would be looking at alternative methods of communication - trying something unexpected or unconventional.

I love that commenters here apparently understand just what terrorists would and would not do better than the people whose job it is to track them down.

I am a terrorist and I approve this message.

Terrorists where? In Korea? If that's the case wouldn't Star Craft be more effective? Don't tell me that Chinease Gold farmers are terrorists these days... Maybe they're looking for Fearless. LOL

When a government entity is responsible for effectively banning liquids on airplanes when the scenario is only reproducible in a lab under the most strict conditions and, even then, improbable, yeah, I do think common sense prevails over governmental tactics.

When I need to take off my shoes prior to boarding when the only time such a tactic was employed to do harm on an airline it failed, yeah, I tend to question tactics.

When our US Government, determined to "protect us," engages in illegal wire tapping on a national scale and when discovered, then pardons those industries that were complicit in the highly illegal act, I question a whole lot about what the US government has become, all in the name of so called freedom.

And beside, all politics aside, if you were going to use an MMO to communicate, would it be the biggest, or would it maybe be something a little smaller that is more likely to slip under the RADAR? Say LotR or Tabula Rasa.

Sorry, I think the whole thing wreaks of exploding cigars to kill Castro; another useless & futile flushing of taxpayer dollars that our protectors spent money, time and resources on.

Don't mean to be a dick, but I think the current administration has failed in so many ways as to be innumerable.

So how do I get one of these WoW playing government jobs? Sounds like a dream come true! You never know how many terrorists you might find while you're out questing.

Mr. President... WoW has targeted white house. Your course of action, sir?

I'm surprised none of you are taking this seriously. If I were a terrorist, online games would be the perfect recruitment tool for future suicide bombers to be, with the very impressionable youth and all playing them. That, and the forums for said games aren't necessarily being monitored by the government, so it could be potentially easier for a bunch of terrorists to get together and have an online chat sight unseen.

Call me a tin hat type, but this all seems perfectly logical to me.

Seems kind of crack-pot to me. There are lots of impressionable minds, but setting up an automated system to track terrorist behaviors? Don't see it happening.

Let me guess, you voted for Bush and voted for him again in 2004, approve of the Iraq war because it's protecting us from the "weapons of mass destruction," and think that all the laws this administration has broken has kept us safe from those gosh darn terr'ists!

Let me guess, you voted for Bush and voted for him again in 2004, approve of the Iraq war because it's protecting us from the "weapons of mass destruction," and think that all the laws this administration has broken has kept us safe from those gosh darn terr'ists!

1)Minority Leader Richard Gephardt, D-Missouri, said giving Bush the authority to attack Iraq could avert war by demonstrating the United States is willing to confront Saddam Hussein over his obligations to the United Nations.

"I believe we have an obligation to protect the United States by preventing him from getting these weapons and either using them himself or passing them or their components on to terrorists who share his destructive intent," said Gephardt, who helped draft the measure.

2)Thursday morning, Majority Leader Tom Daschle announced he will support Bush on Iraq, saying it is important for the country "to speak with one voice at this critical moment."

Daschle said the threat of Iraq's weapons programs "may not be imminent. But it is real. It is growing. And it cannot be ignored."

3) "I was one who supported giving President Bush the authority, if necessary, to use force against Saddam Hussein. I believe that that was the right vote. I have had many disputes and disagreements with the administration over how that authority has been used, but I stand by the vote to provide the authority because I think it was a necessary step in order to maximize the outcome that did occur in the Security Council with the unanimous vote to send in inspectors. And I also knew that our military forces would be successful." -- Hillary Clinton, 2003

You tell 'em Xizer! ALL Bush's fault!!

Okay... I'm staying out of this one.

As of this moment forth, I'm not getting involved in any more political discussions.

But I'll leave with this..... The Bush bashing... It isn't funny anymore.

And you think it's bad now - oh no. Things are about to get much worse with the shit we have to choose from, this election. Were screwed, come November.

This is why you don't ask gamers for their opinions when it comes to politics. No wonder politicians are stomping all over you. Being apathetic is the worst thing you can do.

I'm out too. I've seen too much stupidity flaunted in this thread. I can't believe I've found someone who actually thinks deploying spies in World of Warcraft in search of terrorists is not lunacy. I thought this was Digital Press, not Fox News.

Xizer what did you expect when starting this thread. You are not the only one on this site. People are going to have different views on this topic. Then to start bashing the president of the United States of America and forum members who actually took time to answer this topic isnt all that mature either. No matter who the president is you should always have respect for that person especially if your living in the damn country. With all that cleared I also agree with you Xizer on this thread topic. I do think it is ridiculous and a waste of money but hey the government is getting desperate to get of the starting line and get as much info as possible.

Yeah, just because you're the leader of a country means you deserve respect... Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong-il, Fidel Castro and now his brother Rául, Hitler, all worthy of respect.

You don't get respect through your position, you get respect through your actions. Bush's actions are downright disrespectful.

How many times have you trolled someone's thread, anyway? Quit threadshitting.

I see... another Xizer ban in the future. How you've escaped the permaban up until now is anyone's guess.

Cut it with the Bush bashing as well. It's tiresome and juvenile. And before you call me a Bush supporter I'll let you know I am an ex-Texan, so I had the honor and priviledge of voting against Bush not only in 2000 and 2004, but also in 1998 and 1994. (3rd party voter, though, mind you)

Xizer you sound like a moron comparing Bush to hitler. If you dont like how a ruler is running your country you dont have to stay.?? And if you are going to bitch and complain when people dont agree with you on your topic then why did you start this thread. Better yet why are you here in the first place if your going to act like a child.
