Has anyone else had problems with the hdmi signal through their lcd using a 360? When I initially set up the settings for 720p it works fine but if I turn the tv and the 360 off it will then say I have no signal. I've checked to make sure the hdmi cord is securely plugged in and like I said it works fine when first change the video settings.

Other than trying a different HDMI cable and ensuring you've turned the TV on first (before the 360), I can't imagine anything else causing the problem. Do you have anything else to check the HDMI cable with, i.e., a cable box or DVD player?

OH and I'm using the official Microsoft HDMI cable but I bought another generic one so I've got that coming in the mail.

Did you order the generic ones from Amazon? Mine should be arriving this week (under $5, including shipping) and I'm wondering how well they'll work. I couldn't bring myself to drop $65 on a cable at Best Buy.

I bought a generic HDMI cable from Amazon and have been using it with my 360 for months with no issues. Looks great running in 1080i.
Not sure what could be causing your problem though, theoakwoody. Do try to turn the tv on first because I've noticed if I turn the 360 on before the tv, there's a delay before the picture shows up.

My new Philips HDMI cable works like a dream and is 12ft. I hooked the "official" HDMI cable up to my cable box and it seems to be working fine. I did notice that the official cable wasn't quite as snug as the Philips one but not by much.

HDMI is all about the signal making a one-off digital "handshake" to get things going on power up or resolution change ... if that signal wasn't being sent/received properly with the official XBOX HDMI cable then that's likely where your problem was.
Glad to see the other cable is working okay. Could be one of the pins on either end of the cable or on the TV/XBOX wasn't pressing together as well as the new cable.
If you want to give the official XBOX HDMI cable a good test on your cable box - switch back and forth between a HD channel and a low-def network station for a minute or so and see if it makes the change properly every time.
