ok i just finished frontlines fuel of war, i have the PC version and i have to say, its very short but it leaves the end of the game WIDE open, not really open to a sequel but to well....the rest of the game.

i really dont want to drop another $50 on the other half of the game

any one else playing this/notice this?

I am noticing a trend here in modern shooters, and well..I dont like it.

Short One Player
Mostly an online multi game

What still saves it for some games is system link, so that in time the games can still be played offline. Personally I played the online Demo for 360(both multi and single player). I liked the single player, and hated the multi. I guess COD4 spoiles me.

This is a multiplayer game. The single player campaign is just a distraction. I can easily see putting 100+ hours into this game online. It's essentially an updated version of Battlefield 2:MC with more options/weapons/vehicles etc.

well it would be nice if i could find a decent server that doesent lag to hell and back though, and the fact that my updated version doesent work to join older versions kinda bugs me. many other games would let you play on older version servers i dont see why its different here

so is this game a buy? I've been interested in the MP portion of the game for a while now. is it worth $60 price tag though?

Exactly, 50 people MP on dedicated servers. Hopefully they don't disconnect like the BF2 servers do.

Hows the 360 multiplayer?
Do they have dedicated servers or is it gears of war crap. No way it could host 50 people that way.

I've never played any PC titles that let you play on a server with a different version than the host. Pretty much standard practice.

old versions of UT did.

i was palying online aparently in a match where my self and anohter person were dinking arround he was talking about the axis of his 360 controller so i belive pc and 360 users use the same servers.

as for the game to buy, but the pc version, its $10 less than xbox and i like the controls on a PC better than a joypad on a console. online is fun as long as teams are kept even.

You have your choice. Only the Kaos dedicated servers can do 50 players right now. Even so, the official servers are getting pummeled this first week. Finding a match that you can actually connect to is next to impossible. Kaos reps are on every possible message board saying they're trying to remedy this (very annoying) situation. It's not unusual for online shooters to be gimpy the first week or so after launch, but it's shit like this that can sink a new, struggling franchise right out of the box.

Nope. PC and 360 are completely different servers. The guy was probably using the 360 windows controller setup. He wasn't using a 360 on a PC server.

A gamestop near me said that they have alreaday gotten two traded back. From what I hear the online multiplayer is not great. The demo I played had horrible draw in. If battlefield style games are your thing, you might like it. Anyone else, stay away at full price. I will pick it up when it drops to $30

IGN's review said draw-in was noticeable as well. I'm going to see if anyone has traded it in at any of my local stops today.

The draw distance is limited in the multiplayer demo map "Oil Fields" because of the blowing sand effect. Your view is limited intentionally. Besides, only the sniper is affected, every other class has no need to see all the way across the map. It's silly how particular issues like this escape the "professional" reviewers. Anyone who's played that map could figure this out after a few minutes. The other maps don't have this issue.

The multiplayer is pretty damn good (when you can actually get on a server).

The latest word from Kaos is that if you keep getting "server is full" messages, you need to exit the game back to your XBL dashboard and restart the game. They better fix this quick. No weekends off for those guys right now.

^Agreed, it was intentional, as the sniper would be ridiculously overpowered on that map without it. The single player is much better than the demo from a few months back. Much smoother controls and framerate, and sharper graphics. It is short, but much like the short campaign in Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, the campaign is just training for the concepts to use in multiplayer. The online is pretty terrific, if you get on a good server. There's tons of vehicles and the maps are huge. The combination of classes and roles give the gameplay alot of variety.
It's tough with all these good online FPSs coming out at once (COD4, Halo 3, TF2, RB6V2), there's too much good stuff , it's hard for a game to build a good community with everyone playing something different.
As for Frontlines, I've been really enjoying it, hopefully the community stays strong and the lag is limited.
