It only uses the Wiimote. The nunchuck isn't used at all. Gamecube controllers/Wavebirds won't work either.

Are you overly clumsy or something? I don't see how playing games on the Wii would make you knock over stuff. Then again, I also don't see how people throw the wiimote through their TV.

You do know that you don't have to act like a jackass and swing the controller wildly about, yes?
If you run the risk of tripping on things, perhaps cleaning up a bit before you play would help?

Well just sit down while using the wiimote, man. That's how I usually play it. You're not required to run around or even stand up. You don't even have to swing it really, the motion-sensing is relative.

Unplug when you play, re-plug when finished?
I'd hate to see this rat's nest of wires if you run the risk of tripping on them-especially when you don't have to move your feet at all.
You do know the whole concept of the Wii right? If you don't want to use the Wiimote for anything, why do you own the damn thing to begin with?

I traded for the classic controller so that wouldnt be an issue

Actually, the motion sensing seems to be solid, not great however. Besides Metroid Prime the best evaluations about motion sensing I read so far (besides short party games).
GI:...[the strikes with the Wii mote] transfer fairly accurately onto whatever monster you're fighting." ... All told, combat in Swords is a fairly enjoyable experience..."
'Fairly accurate,' in a Wii game you have to be glad that it works at this level. But you are right, taken the quality of Wii motion sensing, the option of standard controls seems to be a must.
The 'revolution' in gameplay has to take a backseat, and the console has to shine with great innovative games which could be on every other console.

I'm curous... Why is ther so much open flame in your dwelling? You're telling that if you simply fell over, something would burst into flames? What happens if you drop something in the kitchen? Does a tap burst and flood your place?

Because there are great games on there gamers like to play, but prefer standard controls. Options are good. What is wrong with giving gamers the option to play the game avoiding the Nunchuk and Wii remote?

But that doesn't play to the Wii's strengths at all, which is crucial for that particular console. Sounds like a recipe for failure to me. Basically, I hope Nintendo does the exact opposite of what you just said.
However, this all comes second to the most pertinent issue currently at hand -- how to prevent Charlie from burning his own house down.

I've played all my wii games at least once being able to lay in my bed except wii sports. My TV viewing area (I guess I could call it) runs alongside a wall and I've yet to smash my hand or remote.

And according to the title you want this locked.
Done.
Just to get a quick point in as the clank comes down, at no point with my Wiimotes and Nunchucks have I hit or knocked anything what-so-ever down, over ect. None of the games require any kind of drastic movement like that. It's all snaps of the wrist, not real hardcore swinging. Besides I did that with Wii Sports Baseball for about 3 games before I was hurting my shoulder from swinging hard. That stopped and turned into a forward snap of the wrist. Not only did I get better results (I was always early when batting) I stopped hurting my shoulder.
But I digress, you asked for a lock.
