I purchased a game from a user on these boards who had positive feedback on January 31st. I sent payment via money order on February 4th.

Communication during and prior to the transaction was great. I sent a PM on the 4th, the 11th, the 14th just to verify that she got the money order with no response. I finally got a message on the 16th that her computer was having issues and that the money order didnt arrive until the 16th but was postmarked for the 4th. She said the game was packaged already and ready to go and that she would put it in the mail monday(the18th).

I was understanding and didnt make a big deal out of it.

Well its the 29th, 11 days since she was supposed to put it in the mail and still no game. I have tried numerous PM's to her and no response.

At this point, what should i do? Should i make a post inquiry if anyone has seen or heard from her on the boards?

I dont want to throw her under the bus but im a little concerned at this point. I realize life happens but i could never imagine doing this to someone myself and it tics me off a little bit.

Any advice?

on occassions the mail can acually be horribly slow. i would give it a few more days to see if it shows up.

Every time I've ever gotten to the point you are at I tell myself to wait one more day. Then I email the person asking what's up? Then it comes the very next day. Seriously, it has always come the day after I couldn't possibly wait another day.

11 days is not all that long. Around here I'd say that is atypically long, but in general give it 3 weeks before you pull the trigger on outing anyone. The lack of PMs is worrying, but I'd still wait out the weeks.

I trust you've done a search on her to see if anyone else is having problems?

That's where tracking #'s help. I usually ask for them or they're offered to me right off the bat, so this way buyer and seller are somewhat covered if there's a dispute when something is mailed out or received. Good luck to you.

they were supposed to PM me the tracking# but i have not had any communication.

Yeah, i did a search and found nothing. Her feedback is very positive and they all mention quick shipping.

I figured since she has good feedback i am willing to give it more time. I figure i will give it 1 more week from today and make a post on here to see if anybody has heard anything from her.

she had enought time, email her everyday until you get a answer or your stuff, the longer you put it off contacting her, the longer she will take too send it if she is................

Yeah, I've gotten burned on this site before, and it's not fun. It can't hurt anything for you to ask.

I luckily cannot say the same. Pro tip: Utilize the feedback forum before conducting a deal. Given that, there still may be some people that have never conducted a trade/sale yet and thus may not be listed there, but this is where you have to be more weary and take the chance. But, for the most part, the feedback forum is a great resource for checking on credibility.

I would contact her again and ask for a tracking number on the package.

i did check her feedback and she has quit a few transaction that are all positive so i thought she would be a safe bet. she was also supposed to send me a tracking number but never did.

i will give it until monday and then make a post to see if anybody knows of her. that will be 1 month since i sent the payment. i think thats more than enough time to complete a transaction.

The lack of PM's is nothing. There are reputable people here who don't answer them or are very slow to respond.

As for the game going in the mail on the 18th, she only said she was going to mail it the 18th, a Monday. I "plan" to mail stuff on Monday sometimes and usually I do. At least 3 or 4 times, though, "Monday" quickly became "Friday" and I still had a package on my hands 4 days later. Mostly due to work, bad weather, last minute plans revolving around family members, whatever. This after telling guys in a PM that "Yeah, I plan to ship Monday." Happens to the best of us. Of course I always communicate with the person regularly, tell them when it eventually shipped and apologize for the delay. As I said, though, the majority of the time I ship when I "plan" to.

If she had good feedback, then she probably mailed it. Just might not have been on the 18th like she hoped to. Besides, we have no info on where she is mailing from, where she is shipping to, how she mailed it and Sunday's don't count in the 11 day period anyway. Not only that but there are plenty of people who use media mail, regardless of what they are sending, which takes forever.

I guess my point is relax a little. One way or another it will work out. Unless her sale thread was centered around her needing the money really badly because she is just about to become homeless. In which case you might want to start getting nervous.

i agree with some of your points but it is extremely rude to not communicate, especially after you said it would go in the mail. i was told it would go first class and it is coming from the northeast to michigan. 3 days max.

If you tell someone you are going to do something you do it. if you cant then you owe a bit of communication. I guess my problem is that i would never do this to someone so i expect it not to be done to me.

why is it ok or should i cut someone slack after they take my money and make a feeble attempt to hold up their end of the deal?

my gut feeling was i would get the game but every day that passes i grow more weary.

I'm not saying you should cut anyone slack but some people are slow at shipping and unresponsive to PM's but it doesn't make them a scammer. I ship as quickly as I can and keep in regular contact with people I buy/sell/trade with on here (proof is in my feedback) but that is just me.

There are some people here who take over 2 weeks to send either items or a money order, there are also people who take 4-5 days to reply to PM's (if they do at all). More often than not, though, they have "good" feedback because they always complete their transactions. I don't agree with the idea of being so lax about things, so I see your point but it is something you are going to run into every now and then. That is the risk of buying from private sellers online, because perfectly good people who are honest and who aren't out to scam you sometimes don't ship a day or two after payment and find answering PM's from a guy after they get a payment or ship an item to be a hassle.

This scenario you are going through happens to me every so often, with someone not replying to PM's and waiting 9-10 days to ship an item, but I get my stuff in the end.

well after 1 month i finally received my item today and the postmark was February 28th.

just for the record, i never thought this person to be a scammer, but in my opinion rude for string out a transaction for this long and telling me one thing and not following through with it.

to me, once i make a payment, you have my money. every effort should be made to ship out the product in a timely matter. in this case 1 month to receive is not timely. yes things happen but without going even more into this, which i dont care to do because the transaction is complete, the reasons the person gave me just seemed contrived.

under normal circumstances, there is no reason a trade cannot be completed within 2 weeks. with the rare exception of an emergency, anything else is just rude. if something does come up, then be courteous and drop me an en email and tell me so. excuses AFTER the fact, from my experience, have less validity.

if you cant complete it within a reasonable time, then don't trade or sell. this is how i work, i expect the same in return.

I have done a lot of deals here over the past couple years, with great results. There have only been a few times that it has taken someone a while to ship a package and as long as I am kept informed, usually it is fine. The only time that I have had a big problem was when I was told that a package had shipped, but must be very slow. After I kind of went public with a little nasty-gram, I got some PMs and more assurances that it had been mailed, yadda yadda. I got the package a few days later and this "lost in limbo" package somehow had a postmark date of the day after I sent my nasty-gram. I will leave it to you to do the math on that one.

The thing that gets me is the people who want to but something but never seem to send the money. I guess I could alleviate some of that by taking paypal, maybe I will in the future. I have had stuff boxed up for a month or more waiting on payment, even after sending them PMs, they are still, Yeah I want it. I'll get the money right out." I guess they never sent it since nobody has ever asked me if I got it. Just my 2 cents worth. And unlike Flack, my 2 cents is worth about, um let me see, nothing.

If I were you, I'd leave feedback (in the Feedback Forum; maybe not in this thread) saying what this seller did, so when it happens to the next one, they won't be like, "But they have great feedback... "

I say post their info here.

Late shipping is late shipping and uncalled for.

What are we worried about stepping on someones feet. They should be worried about us . We are a community that should stick together and help each other out.

If it was a one time mistake it will disappear in a week or so. If it happens again it will be well documented and can be brought up again and the trader avoided.

I completely agree here.
