Just posting to see if anyone has any experience with the following issue before I reseal the LED display cables by baking them in the oven.

When i first cut the system on, it plays normally for about 5 minutes and suddenly I see faint vertical lines and the display splits into two. If I shut the system off and back on the issue vanishes and doesn't recur for however long I decide to play, usually another half hour or so.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Does this happens only in one eye side or both?...depending...sounds to me like a mirror inside its coming loose...

Can't say, I'll have to check with either eye closed next time. Any suggestions to fix a loose mirror if that's the case?

The mirrors are the most common problem with the Virtual Boy,They can come apart if the system has been dropped or they just come loose thru time.I have fixed at least 3 of them.First of all,the Virtual Boy requires those 4.5MM extra long type gamebits to open the shell, thats a bitch and most frustrating step.Once the shell is open, with clean hands,I will try to gently manually tilt the mirror with the problem, maybe it just has come a notch out of place. If this doesn't work..You are going to have to reach deep more into the guts....You'll have to remove a few snap in cable connectors and the mirrors mechanism(which looks like a long piece of metal web)to access the actual mirrors...From there, you may see where the actual problem relies in.
