So I've got a problem with my old neo geo pocket color. Basically, for some games it won't detect the cart in there all the time, and when it does, it frequently will simply restart after playing for a few minutes. Other carts work just fine.

I suspect it may be an issue with the pin connector...does anyone else know anything about that? If it is the connector, how easy is it to repair?

Does it only happen with only a few select games and consistently with those specific games only? If not then you could have a flaky battery terminal.

EDIT: I'm a moron, I need to quit replying to technical posts after getting home from work and being dead tired. I read your original post again, I got nothing at this time.

sounds like either dirty carts or a dirty connector in the system. pop it open and clean the cart slot then clean all your carts. that will probably fix it

does the screen say anything when resetting, as it could be the 'save' battery (not the AA batteries).

I've replaced the save battery before, as that's died. And like I said, it only happens on a couple carts, mainly SNK vs Capcom. Cleaning the carts hasn't worked.

Sometimes after turning itself off in the middle of a game, the menu will pop up wanting me to reenter the language and time.

My friend has had the same problem with his neo geo pocket and Magical Drop.

This happens to me on my Pocket Tennis (and sometimes Pocket Golf) as well.

I had a copy of cotton that did this cleaning didn't help either the only option was to not insert it all the way but just the right way it always took a few trys and some fine tuning and could of course screw up if I did something wrong bump it or something etc

(My ngpc was new)
