View Full Version : So I see GameStop's new method of stickering new & used product, and I don't like it.

As I am reading this thread, all I can think of is, for anyone that remembers, the "Freaking" of Neo Geo homecarts, including their boxes and manuals.

I haven't observed this at a Gamestop yet, but the obvious semi-solution would be to attempt removal before actually buying the game. If you dont rip the insert you are good to go. If you do, just put it back on the shelf.

I only read through the first 2 pages.. but if it wasn't recommended I use a product called

UN - DU

instead of GooGone. This stuff always works for me on inserts without smearing the ink. It comes in a bottle kind of like a flat eyedrops bottle but it has a type of plastic no scratch spoon attached to it. You squirt a few drops and they fall down the spoon onto the sticker and the spoon lifts the sticker. Even on age old EB stickers where I have been trying to clean up a few games in my collection I never got around to it took 2 tries max. You have to be quick though as it evaporates really fast.

My only problem is finding it again haha. I've been to many stores and don't remember where I bought it >_< It says it is photo safe and acid free on the packaging too. If anyone see's it I highly recommend this stuff over GooGone.

I've already gone through the sticker issue 3 times. You can get them off if the sticker isn't to old but it may fade the cover when you try to remove the residue. I hope they don't end up doing this with the new games like the NeoGeo issue. If that happens, I'll never buy from gamestop again.

Discovered the stickers are still on the outside of the case at my Gamestop, anyway.

Again, my method for getting stickers off DVD/CD Cases works 100% without damage (Dab Goo Gone on it, hair dryer to heat it up, peel off what you can, rub the rest off with Goo Gone). Have used the same method with good results on stickers right on cartridge labels (including some ancient ones).

Getting a sticker off a manual? Forget it. Getting it off a paper DVD insert? Like I said, hair dryer and a little bit of goo gone, worked fairly well on a GS sticker. Moral of the story is yes, if you don't like it, don't buy it. However, the lesson Gamestop should learn is that people don't like it. Why would you upset customers just to suit your own housekeeping?

I have to say, that yes i too hate those stickers especially when a trade-in in DP has them on the games. I always take them off IN ANGER!

But worst thing was when some one bought me a used game for my birthday not only was it USED ( am i not worth the extra 5 bucks ? : ( and it was from Game Stop ( when DP is closer cough) ... But they didn't have the courtesy to take off that god damn Sticker!

I'm done with Gamestop.

I bought Mass Effect from them today, then immediately returned it because they gave me some bullshit excuse that "Any store that sells video games are all now taking off the shrink wrapping on all their games before they sell them."

My response:

"Have you been to Best Buy, Circuit City, or Game Crazy lately? The must not have received the same memo. Because their games are still shrink wrapped and the tags are over the shrink wrapping. You guys are really pissing the hardcore collectors off by removing the shrink wrapping then putting your price tags on the bare cover. Not to mention, you're basically selling everyone a used game"

Fuck Gamestop... From now on, It's Best Buy or Game Crazy (where I did buy Mass Effect - shrink wrapped w/ no price tag, period.), for me.

Yeah , just vote with your feet. Gamestop was always overpriced and crappy for me anyway.

Excellent. I was completely finished with GameStop two months ago after a store manager wouldn't let me return a wire I bought from him the previous day. I still had my receipt and all of the original packaging, just like the return policy stated.

Last night, I bought the Wii Zapper/Link's Crossbow Training from Circuit City. It was $19.99 and didn't have any stickers on it at all. Nobody tried to sell me an extended warranty or a player's guide, either.

Some do and some don't I try to only shop at the ones that don't or buy games off amazon.

Goo Gone is a great way to strip the print off anything it touches, too. It took a lot of black ink off the top of a Genesis cart I had - although you can't really tell looking at that cart, but it still happened.

People don't like Windows Vista's (insert paranoid feature here), but that didn't stop them, did it?

Honestly, I'll probably only buy systems and pre-order certain rpgs/limited stuff there now. When I buy something new, I want it to be factory sealed.
