I stopped by their yesterday. They had a bin filled with N64 games and Dreamcast games. I couldn't believe their prices for them either. Sports titles for the dreamcast were 20.00 and anything else was anywhere from 39.99 - 55.99 :o . And N64 games were 29.99 . Is this normal for Toys R' Us.

It's "normal", at least in the Toys 'R Us sense of the word. Same deal near me, it's gotten to the point where I've cut my TRU trips down from at least once a week to maybe once a month, and even then it's really to catch a deal on newer stuff (they'll do buy 2 get 1 free from time to time).

TRU is not friendly to the "out of date" collector, especially when it comes to Dreamcast and N64, which they don't seem to want to move.

They still have $20 SNES, Genesis, and Game Gear games where I live.

By my work, TRU has Giga Wing for 44.99

Really sucks, considering that's one of the only DC games I still want to get.

Does anybody know what TRU does with the Dreamcast games after they remove them from the stores? I've been to one that had the same wire basket full of DC games, but when I came back a month later, they said all the games were gone and nobody knew anything about them. All they found in the back was a Mad Catz Blaster that was still $30. Most of the games in that bin were onesies, meaning if they didn't have more than one, they didn't make it into the regular overpriced DC section...

My Toys R Us isn't crazy on the prices (no $49 games), but they're still $20 or more. However my local EB had Samba De Amigo and some Jetski game for $10 each.

My area TRU has always had good deals on old games, seems kind of out of place considering all the high prices some of you are putting down here. For instance, N64 games are all reasonably priced at my TRU

-Perfect Dark $10
-Conkers $10
-Pokemon Puzzle League $21
-Resident Evil 2? $29

and their DC games were like $14 each. When they still had SNES and Genesis stuff a couple years ago, those were never higher than $10 for good games like Simcity, Castlevania IV, Super Punchout!! etc.. Weird how they don't have chain standards on pricing.

I worked there for over ten years and can tell you that they won't lower the price until they get some sort of concession or credit from the vendor or whoever took over distribution of the product. Personally, I always looked to see if the distribution center was out of each title, and did a store-level markdown on things that were no longer there. If you mark something down that is in the DC, you'll get a ton more because they think it's moving at your location. They don't know that you've taken a hit, because the markdowns go to a generic part number.
