Due to the response of the poll I did on Apr. 03 on a potential Canadian Classic Gaming Expo, Congobongo and I have created the CGCC or Classic Gaming Collectors of Canada group.

Now this group is as new as can be, and congobongo has graciously offered to build a website (check out the domain and group logo at cgcc.ca).

The immediate goal is to bring the collecting community of Canada together, and highlight aspects of the industry that are uniquely Canadian.

Things like the Zellers releases, info on thrifting in Canada, a place for Canadians to barter, buy/sell/trade etc...

After a bit, swap meets, vg get togethers, group trips to vg expos (and maybe our very own expo) will be brought forward.

It is a group by Canadian gamers, about Canadian games, intended for everyone.

Thanks to DP, we were able to get some people together to do this.
I hope we can anticipate seeing some familiar friendly faces once we are up and running.

NOTE: DP will always be "home" for the classic gaming enthusiast.
I think that this new site will add a little something to the hobby for the Canadian gaming enthusiast.
If anyone has any feedback , requests, suggestions for what they would like or not like to see, please feel free to pm myself or Congobongo, or to post it here.
All of you who contacted me after that poll, or expressed interest are on the list.

Well, that's very good idea !

The CGCC will facilitate to identify which are the collectors in the other province and by the same to facilitate the sale and trade between us. (hey! that's mean lower shipping charge !)

As for the Quebec crew like Christian Scott said, we was present at every Phillyclassics since the beginning (minus the first one) and we are some kind affilited with our friends of the NECG in the Boston area (christianscott27, clubninja, wberdan...)

Our web site it's www.ccjvq.com (in french as well, but don't be shy you can write in english too !)

Indeed! If anyone has anything they can contribute (like say pics of Canadian items) please email them to me at danwmullins@yahoo.ca. Doesn't matter if YOU are Canadian or not. Also, I'd like to do a little article on the history of video game hockey. If anyone has any input/screenshots relating to that please email me. Still looking for people to write profiles on a few cities like Montreal and Halifax. Oh and one last thing, anyone have a list of all SMS titles released in Canada?

@congobongo

Since i collect NES stuff, i can said that all game and accessories made and release by Nintendo in Canada haved the bilingual box and manual (at least in Quebec) and got the Mattel logo on it (Mattel was Nintendo distributor in Canada).

Also remember the Camerica add "Thank You Canada ! " in videogames magazine ?

Humm....our club (the CCJVQ) is already opened to many parts of Canada and even in the US. If there's another VG collector's club opening in Canada, it would be great to know about it and see if we do some meeting either in Montreal or Toronto (or elsewhere).

Like Sniper said, don't be shy to come visit us on our web site and post a message. Almost everybody in the CCJVQ are bilingual. It would be super if we could do a CGCC for anyone here in Canada. Anyway, keep pouring the message here, heh, heh, heh... :)

I don't remember that add. Is there a scan of it anywhere? I think it's a good idea to have pics of bilingual labels, boxes, etc.
