In a way, it almost does look like a painting without a frame, if it wasn't for that big tear from where the packing tape was ripped off...

Crazy. I could see spending that much on a system or a cab (or towards a cab anyway) but on a damn box? My god how much would it cost to get that with the game?

I don't see why so many people are surprised at this. Remember how much the Tooth Protectors paper strip and styrofoam sold for?

This should probably be in the Everything Ebay forum.

I don't understand this. What am I looking at, and why is it worth $430?

Because the name "Atlus" has been known to give certain men erections.

That raises more questions than it answers.

nothing amazing there, I recall a shipping box for the g1 transformer shockwave sold for well over 500$ and an ultramagnus master case for about 100$, its just a very niche thing to collect but something very very few people have (I have a case of botcon ironhide exclusive figures) not a whole lot of those exist (could easily be the only one) its just like collecting the "worthless" outer box from a stadium events game.

But it's not even a pretty box!

I paid $50 for a single jewel case with inlay..but that was of an unreleased game.

I sold my myriad box for $1200(I had the caltron cart so I didnt mind). Collectors are willing to pay alot for truly rare items and boxes. I know that a boxed Stadium events go for some crazy money.

I was wondering the same thing. What exactly are we looking at here?

I have a still sealed cardboard box sitting around here from Nintendo...think I can sell it for $2000?

I remember a few years ago, the box for the unreleased Ultima 8 expansion fetched a pretty high price.

But that box was pretty. It had artwork. This? This is brown.

I have that same box only MUCH rarer. It's a prototype. They didn't even print on it yet!

I have a box that Radiant Silvergun was shipped in.

To me.

By the standards set forth here that box should be worth around 1.1-1.5 million dollars

Originally from shmups.com forums, just old news.

Atlus boxes are just hard to find, not to mention it's an Atlus box from a game that is already scarce/expensive for an old PCB. Obviously, users in Japan on Yahoo often go above and beyond what many in North America and Europe to be sane amounts of money for game related items. For the record, there were a few sales of other Guwange goods late last year and mostly drew attention because of, you guessed it, the box.
