Which game is good for the VB

Telroboxer and the Warioland game, both of which really good, except the whole headache thing.

Tennis, Maro Clash... I always wanted to play Space Squash, but it's import-only and pretty expensive.

Yes, Warioland. Hopefully some day Nintendo will release a port of that one and save me from having to muck about with emulators.
Did you not see the recent AVGN bit? Really, he goes over everything you might want to know.

Surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be a "Top 10/What is the best game for..." thread already in progress for this system! Hmmm, let's start one.
My favorite games for the ol' VB are:
Red Alert - An amazing 3D space/tunnel shooter.
Warioland - Image a Mario Platformer in 3D where you can enter the background as well as the foreground.
3D Tetris - Looking down into a pit and using 3D blocks to fill it.
Golf - A 3D golf course? Wow, feels like you're actually there.
There are very few "bad" games for the VB (though Waterworld is boring as heck). And don't let the headache nay-sayers fool you. Adjust your system correctly and you won't have that problem.

I'm a huge fan of Galactic Pinball - I love video pinball, and the five tables in this game are all a great challenge, though it's really more "pin-puck" than pinball, as you're flipping around puck-like discs, not balls, on the wild 3D tables...
Red Alert and Vertical Force are both worthy shooters that take advantage of the Virtual Boy's unique abilities, as well...

I am into everything mentioned that is said. Try our Jack Bros too.

Red Alert is a poorly-acted CD game for the Turbografx. It won't fit into the Virtual Boy.
Red Alarm, however, is a great experience on the VB.

Red Alarm is eye candy, but not the deepest of games. Check out Wario Land, Teleroboxer, Vertical Force, and Galactic Pinball. Also, I really like Panic Bomber and V-Tetris, but neither bring anything new to the table. And Mario Tennis is amazing, but not quite as much as its N64 counterpart.

Red Alarm plays like a wireframe StarFox with 3D depth, one of my favorites on the platform. As has been said, Teleroboxer is great as well, it's like arcade Punch-Out!! with the first person perspective. V-Tetris (JPN) is another personal favorite. It's really just straight Tetris but with no distractions and the pleasant soundtrack it's incredibly relaxing, especially if you have the 3D starfield in the background.
Wario Land is where to go if you want some real depth and a solid platformer with decent length. As Sniderman said, there really aren't any truly bad games on the platform, they're all pretty decent and the lack of one stellar title is one of the big reasons that the Virtual Boy doesn't get much positive press.

I really enjoyed mario tennis, also verticalforce was fun for me because its a fairly easy shoot em up so I dont get aggrivated playing it. Of course so far wario land is the best I have played yet on it. I will soon have every US VB game except two (golf, 3d tetris) thanks to ebay (all complete as well), cant wait to see if jackbros is any good.

Vertical Force is great, but the big caveat is that it's kinda hard playing a shooter with only one-color; sometimes it can be hard to see the bullets.
Teleroboxer is pretty good.
The only Virtual Boy game I keep coming back to, though, is Mario's Tennis. It takes advantage of the third-dimension better than any other game IMO.
Red Alert is a poorly-acted CD game for the Turbografx
heh if ya wanna get technical about it, Last Alert is the Turbografx version, and Red Alert is the PC Engine version :P And poorly-acted or not, that game rocks!

Wario Land is fun. I think there's been enough said about it already.
However! My favorite game on Virtual Boy is...
Panic Bomber. I love that game. I just love the whole puzzle type games, so that might be why I liked it so much. It's just a fun play. You can sit and play a couple rounds, or play through the entire game on the hardest mode in one shot. The best part about the game is the music. It still gets stuck in my head every now and then, and I haven't played it for over a year. I don't think it's that hard to find, so it'd be a good play for a cheap price.

You know there was a SNES version, right? (It was never released in the US, though.)

I can only endorse a few that have already been mentioned: Wario Land, Golf and Red Alarm are all hella fun. Nester's Funky Bowling seems kind of promising too, although a little on the tricky side.

Not so expensive -- maybe $20-30. Don't believe the guide prices, VB import stuff isn't that badly priced except the big rares (V Bowling, SD Gundam, V Lab, Space Invaders). The rest are easy to find for reasonable prices.

With only 14 games released domestically why not get them all? Only a couple are kinda pricey and each one has it's own charm.

You forgot Waterworld. That game has no charm.

I don't have that many games for the VB, but VERTICAL FORCE is definitively my favorite so far. If I remember well, I especially like the way you can move your ship under or above the background.

Basically every game except Waterworld is worth playing. Everybody bashes the system, but the library is unusually strong.
Vertical Force is one of my favorites too, it plays alot like the Star Soldier games on the TG16. No suprise, considering it was developed by RED and released by Hudson.

my favorite VB games is Red Alarm, however if you want a full in-depth experience, use the 3rd POV (the cockpit view) in that game

For Vertical Force, I kept getting my ass handed to me for the longest time. Suddenly one day I beat it! The oddest part was how easy it was for that one time and it's worth it. Awesome shooter.

I've enjoyed every game for the virtual boy, but my favorites are Mario Clash, Warioland, Tennis, and my favorite Nesters Funky Bowling. Also, I am very lucky, I am one of the minority that doesn't get headaches playing the system regarless of how long I play. :-)

28 posts and not a single negative comment. No "crappy console" or "horrible portable" posts. A console that had so many bad reviews that made the Sega 32x looks like a Playstation. A console, which Nintendo discontinued after one year, with a library count that rivals the Phillips CD-i. Even the AVGN himself gave a mighty smackdown on this system.
It's understandable that a few will support the Virtual Boy System, but a large group?
Against a overwhelming tide of doubt, where is all this optimism coming from?
Or is this sarcasm?

Those two things go hand in hand, Nintendo never even gave the Virtual Boy a chance, it didn't even have a full year release cycle before they pulled the plug. A shame really since some of the upcoming games at CES showed a lot of promise. F-Zero on the Virtual Boy? Hell yeah!

Because most of us that have posted here actually own the system and a lot of the games instead of just jumping on the "cool to bash Virtual Boy" bandwagon, which is mostly made up of people that never even played the actual hardware.

Very true, you might look ridiculous playing the thing but seriously, if you play this thing in the dark with headphones on, its really unlike anything out there. I dont care how gimicky the 3d effects are I think they are still amazing even til this day, and this is coming from someone who never played a VB until many many years after its release.
BTW if anyone here has any VB games for sale (US or JP) pleasecheck out my sig!

Galactic Pinball takes the prize for me... but of course I'm biased on pinball...
now as for why nobody isn hatin' on the VB in this thread yet, it's because the VB really is the shit... most of the negative press on it back in the day was due to the price, the fact that it wasn't as portable as Nintendo would have you believe, and because alot of people suffered from pretty severe headaches and/or nausea from playing it, most likely due to the fact that as cool as the all red graphics were, another color would've been a much better choice... I think that was the biggest mistake that Nintendo made with the system... they should've gone with all green or all blue instead of all red, or better yet, they should've stuck with the original design and released it with full color graphics, high cost be damned... the cost was still too high anyway, so why not just make it more of an executive's toy than a mere child's toy?
BTW, thanks for reminding me that I need to move my VB to my new place...
