Many of you here probably know that inside the NES controllers are little rubber pads. I've seen replacement sets at an online retailer, but it's in Canada, they require a $20 minimum, and shipping is $15 to the U.S.!!!!! O_O All that for something that's not even five bucks U.S.?! I don't think so.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND THESE THINGS AT A REASONABLE PRICE??????!!!!!

Here's what I mean:

I wish they did this with TG-16 stuff.. I have a control pad with the select button gouged out.

If you had a broken pad I'd take you up on that, but I already have extra controllers that are unblemished. It just bothers me that one of them is missing the select button. :D

Come to think of it, I believe I have some non-working controllers for the SNES, Genesis and NES I could salvage rubber pads from. None that fit the TG-16 pad, of course.

The owner of the store showed me those rubber pads when I was there about a year ago. They were like $5. He probably still has them. I wish I had read this post sooner because I went to the store today, I would have picked up some for you!

Does anyone know if they'll put their store inventory list up on the web so people can browse and buy from them?

I know it doesn't make too much of a difference but it says the prices are in canadian dollars. So $20CDN=$13 USD and $15CDN=$10USD.

I just got a reply from the Video Game Exchange and they stated they didn't have any controller replacement parts available.

I have 3 used NES controllers now, they were pretty scummy when I got them recently. Who knows how much abuse they've been subjected to over the years, but I took them apart and cleaned them, and the pads are OK. I'm just concerned about years from now, I'm going to Europe for 2 years, etc. I can't imagine new controllers will be around in 3 years. It would have been nice to have a set of replacement pads, oh well. If anyone on this board lives near this place (Quebec, I think), pick up a set for me!! :-D

When I had MCM Electroniocs catalog, they had replacement pads for NES controller. I'm looking for it now as I type. They are in USA BTW but they have minimum $20 order and the shiipping's like $8. Maybe we all should get together with a list of how many we need (to save on shipping), have one person order the entire lot and then send 'em around to us?

I could use a few as I have a number of NES pads with non working A&B buttons.

CrazyImp has a brilliant idea. I checked MCM's website yesterday, and searched for "Nintendo pad" or somesuch and came up with nothing.

If a bunch of us want a set, we could order from the Canadian outfit I mentioned above--each set has pads for 2 controllers. It would even out the shipping, and seeing as the price is $4.59 Canadian, that's not too bad. I'd rather not buy a new controller from Nintendo--$20 after shipping.

HOLY S@#$! I'VE JUST FOUND WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!!!

A fluke. I found a mint complete copy of FLASHBACK for Genesis on Ebay, bought it Now, etc. Saw that the seller is in Twin Cities, I live in Mpls, I asked if I could pick it up there. Well, I just got back from biking 20 miles round trip out into suburban sprawl wasteland to a place called Disc Land. They have a crap load of used game stuff, most of it in crap ASS condition. But I noticed in a glass case.......

DOC'S FIX-A-PAD Repair kit for Nintendo controllers!!! New, for 5 bucks!!!!

DOC's has a variety of cleaning kits, I have one for NES-SNES-GEN, it's OK. GET THIS: included is a screwdriver, a replacement D directional, replacement A & B buttons, and TWO, 2, sets of replacement rubber pads!!! In case any of you are wondering, this place has two more sets.

AHHHH, it's a good day.

And where is this store located again?

The place is:

Disc Land
822 98th St. W
Bloomington, MN 55420
(952) 884-0686

The Ebay selling is a separate business, their ID is swordkillers. Like I said, the Doc's controller repair kit was in the store.

Doesn't matter! That guy is so paranoid he'll probably accuse his web customers of shoplifting.

I know it's a old thread but i'm hopeless :) Does anyone know where to get Doc's repair kits these days? Or where I could buy just the replacement rubbers?

Holy crap...I didn't know he had a site now. He is probably the most overpriced guy in the whoile nation, but he has a seriously crazy inventory...just insanity.

I have several controllers that don't work due to bad cables and could extract the rubbers out for you or send the whole controller. All I'd ask is that you pay the shipping.
