So did anyone go at midnight? I showed up at 10 p.m. and I was number 2 in line. I chatted with some high school kid about Nintendo games most of the time. It was pretty normal and quiet for a while, maybe about 8-10 people there, most of them waiting in their cars. Then at 11 p.m. pretty much everyone paid and took off. Then around midnight, it got more packed, and there was a good amount of about 40 people or so in line. I saw some kids trading in their PS2's to get Smash Bros. There was also someone in line who thought they knew everything about Gamestop and Nintendo lol. And of course, there was the angry, frustrated parent who showed up and just wanted to cut the line walk in the store and just buy the game lol. I got my game and strategy guide right at midnight in no time, and my game from Gamestop was shrink wrapped and not gutted!!!! I didnt expect that much people to show up. So anything exciting happen at your launch?

No one near me had a midnight launch.

Stores opened today at noon. I got there about 30 min early and was about 10th in line.

Got my copy of brawl and a free Nintendo Wii hat :D

My gamestop held a super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament! I t was pretty packed, there were 32 contestants including myself, all the matches were one on one and your character was selected randomly. I won my first match but then lost to a stupid picmin.

My GameStop launch confirmed that I'm too fucking old to be waiting in line for a video game at midnight.

Other than that it was fine.

No midnight launch in my area. Although I did pick it up this afternoon.

Am I the only one whose stores weren't sold out? Just about every store in my area had like 30 or so copies left even at noon today

I opted to get PS2 Rock Band instead. Kind of wondering if I did the right thing.

My local Target (which doesn't even have that big of a video games section) had probably about 40 copies in the lockup display, and another case behind the counter when I got my copy around 2PM today.

After picking some stuff up at the cycling shop, wandered into Best Buy at 3:30PM, went straight for the Wii stuff and picked my copy out of 40 on the shelf copies. No muss, no fuss, no mess.

I went to the gamestop tourny and most of the people in it were my age 21-26 (i am 24). There were a few 17 and 18 year olds. We had 28 people we picked the character we played and random stage/combatants. It was 4 at a time, I got 2nd in my match but needed first to move on (damn final smash got me). Really awesome night people had fun and I loved the game.

I went to the tournament last night with my girlfriend, her brother, and his friend. I'll never ever do that again. Ever. It was like Gamefaqs had come to life and taken the form of 28 retard 16 year olds and their equally moronic friends. To be blunt, it was an awful experience of idiots yelling about how eveyone sucks and raping each other.
I waited until I got home to play games and drink. They obviously did that first.

Went easy for me. I left work at 8am this morning(vacation for the rest of the day), stopped at Wal Mart, picked up SSBB, some soup, and some butter, and went home. But soup and butter away, and played SSBB for about 45 minutes.

My Wii launch didn't go near this well. I got punched in the stomach by some guy who though he was getting my Wii as I left the store. Needless to say, he didn't get the Wii, and I got the satisfaction of breaking his jaw.

mine went smooth, I opted not to attend the 10pm tourney, but walked in at midnight, and walked out at 12:10 w/ my copy, I would say there was about 80 people there tops, I expected to see more, but it was ok in my book. Man there were some real "douches" there, one guy walked out yelling, "I can smell the Nintendo in there" man oh man, why can people use condoms!!!

It was a good experience for my first time going to a launch for a game. I went in, got Brawl, and left (I considered entering the tournament, but they had already started by the time I got there, and if I made it to later rounds, it'd be too much trouble to work around my schedule). Because the Gamestop I went to opened at 9AM instead of having a midnight release, I didn't see any hardcore nerds emerge from their mommy's basement or grandma's attic to get Brawl (The nerds won't emerge from their "lair" until the sun is down)

I was invited but did not attend any of the tournaments. Instead I went to a game crazy around 3 in the afternoon and just bought a copy and tried it out for a little last night. A very good game but I wasn't gonna be waiting in any lines or anything. I was not afraid of not finding a copy.

All I did was go at about 8:45 to Wal Mart, there had to be friggin 50 copies in the box behind the register, no line. That's why I go to Wal Marts in my area when games launch, no one really cares :p. No way was I going out at midnight, what's the point?

I spent the midnite launch sleeping. :) I haven't bothered with a midnight launch in years... just isn't worth it.

Went out Sunday morning and picked it up, with a free guide to boot.
