I was lucky enough to find this title boxed at a Blockbuster by my brother's house for $9.99 which I guess is a good deal. I was surprised to see the original NES version included :D Well, the question I have is this. What is up with the high res mode? It seems to just basically change the screen to a widescreen format and it actually looks like it is losing frames with this mode as well. Is it just me? Otherwise, great game!

You're right... the hi-res mode really doesn't seem to do all that much except for make the frame rate slow down on occasion. That happens with a lot of N64 games, it seems. A lot of the time you're better off in normal mode.
Stunt Race 64 is a perfect example... the game is quite lovely as it is, but the hi-res mode REALLY makes a noticable differance in the graphics. Unfortunately, the game display is reduced by at leat one third, rendering the game almost unplayable.
Nintendo really should have built in the additional 4 megs in the first place... the game pak, while nice in a few instances, is a stupid idea fundamentally.

I think this is a good time to point out that EXCITEBIKE 64 IS THE RADDEST MOTORBIKE GAME EVER.
Everybody should go play it right away. Go on. I'll wait for you.

And I think it's a terrible game.
It's been some time since I played it, but I really couldn't find any fun in it.

I like this game. It reminds me alot of the arcade "Enduro Racer" which I used to play constantly at a local pizzaria. Any having the original included as well, how can you not at least like that? :) Oh well, to each their own.
