At first I thought it was just the game was hard. Then I noticed Red doesn't always register so I thought it was my new guitar. BUT a test in Rock Band showed it responds 10X (approx) better in Rock Band than in Guitar Hero III.

SO my guess is......Guitar Hero III Just plain sucks and everyone at Neversoft has no musical ability whatsoever.

how about the rest of you? Any Problems playing Guitar Hero III compared to GH II and Rock Band?

Actually I thought that besides from the last tier, GHIII was pretty easy. I got all of the songs (except for a couple that you can only get in multiplayer - stupid design decision there) and most of the guitars/costumes over a week or so.

This might be a stupid question, but if you're playing on a HDTV, have to tried calibrating GHIII?

I have doesn't make much difference.

I think GHIII is much easier than GHII, at the very least. The Hammer Ons and Pull Offs require zero timing.

I agree that GHIII is easier. There were maybe 2 songs on medium that I didn't 5 star the first time, and I could barely pass songs on hard on GHII. Except for the last song from the store, the same one in the end credits. What the hell is up with THAT beast?

I hammer on and pull off accidentally sometimes and surprise myself, it's so easy.

Yes, it is broken. Just put it out of its misery.

No, I do not like Guitar hero 3 although I love 2 and rock band.

in part it was the guitar. Connection between Base and Neck being screwy or something. If I press everything in there's no button response delay at least so far.

Still GH III sucks

How so? Your guitar issue is now fixed. So what's the problem?

I've noticed that some songs in particular are broken (Knights of Cydonia on hard and expert, especially).

The game is too forgiving in some instances, sometimes missing notes by a full quarter beat, but it still counting. I think they might have done this to compensate for the wireless controller lag though...

The game is easier than GHII, but I still like it more. In my opinion, the songs are better and flat out more fun to play, despite the obvious flaws.

I don't think Guitar Hero III is fundamentally (or technically) "broken" by any stretch of the imagination.

It's certainly more forgiving in terms of timing on long hard note runs ... and that's the sort of thing that some people get pissed about and others embrace.

i love guitar hero 3 :) it's my fav, and i cut my teeth on the first run of gh 1.

yes, the hammer ons are easier, but the songs are also more complex. very fun.

rockband though, that's a broken game. the hammer ons are somewhere between gh1 and gh2 when you try to pull them off.

As much as I love Rock Band ... I'm not a HGUE fan of it's guitar portion. I just feel like there's no "imagination" or "intracacy" on the note runs...just lots of straight lines of single notes or doubles on most songs.

My Gh3 ended up having a button go all wonky and stuff. My rockband kickpedal broke though and the replacement sucks compared to the original I swear its less springy

Here is the thing: I prefer songs I like to listen to over songs that are just hard. So Rock band and GH2 win over GH3 for me.

I hate the note layouts.

As far as song lists go. Guitar Hero is like a shitty Modern Rock Station that panders to teenagers with tin ears.

Rock Band is like that Classic Rock Station that plays a good mix of the old and the new and when I do a song in Rock Band I feel like I'm actually playing the song.

Rock Band needs more Smashing Pumpkins. In paticular, The Tale of Dusty and Pistol Pete, Adore, Zero, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, The Everlasting Gaze, If there is a God, their Cover of A Girl named Sandoz and Disarm.
Superchrist can go in Guitar Hero.

Also Rock Band Needs too...anything by tool. The newer stuff would probably kill whoever's on Drums though.
