Just stopping over from the XBOX General Board to pass along this information. I manage a Gamestop store and we just receieved our new marketing for the month of May which has huge signs that read:

NEW LOW PRICE - XBOX - $149.99
NEW LOW PRICE - PS2 - $149.99
NEW LOW PRICE - GC - $99.99

These are NOT sale signs!

The marketing had a huge sticker on it saying "DO NOT PUT OUT UNTIL AUTHORIZED BY CORPORATE", which means its not meant to be put out with the other marketing ( that goes up on May 1st ), so Im sure its being held off until the announcement at E3.

This would be great news if this is true.

Ehh...the best deal there is the GC for $99.99. I really am not "jumping for joy" so to say because the X and the PS2 went down slightly. I'll be muich happier when I see them selling for $49.99 :)

It's true, and the sale goes into effect May 8th (Thursday), or so I've been told.

For those of us with all three new platforms it doesn't matter, but if you don't have a Gamecube, with games like Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, and Mario Sunshine (all ***** titles easily) then you have no excuse anymore not to get one. Do so now.

My excuse is I don't care about those games LOL

Still, I'd like to check out the GC rev of Ikaruga. Mmmmmmaybe...but I can't see buying a console for a game I already own.

All cynicism aside, $99 for a GC is a pretty good deal.

As you well know, if the prices drop on the new stuff....the prices on the used stuff should drop accordingly....soooo.....that means I should be able to pick up used stuff in some places for.....Playstation 2,used,....$99 or $129....
X-Box...possibly the same as the PS2....and the Gamecube....lets say, possibly...under $60!!!!????. The Keeper :/ :P :o
P.S. I was just wondering...how many of you wait to buy a New system, when it isn't New anymore...like when it's finally going for a decent price Used? I find myself waiting for this to happen...along with purchasing games used too. :turn-l:

They all have to drop eventually, just a matter of when, I think very soon

As will I, because that means I'll have survived my lack of exercise and horrible eating habits to see the year 2006.

I don't belive it. Stupid game store chain just trying to be prepared. I can assure you the signs were not "officially" done by either SCEA or Microsoft.

No official announcements have been made. If the price was coming down I would know......and I don't!

If I was, I certainly would not be working my ass off 14 hours per day! Dad would be pissed at my choice of companies to work for as well :)

Not doubting your word, but a picture of that marketing says a thousand words. Can you provide a pic of the marketing? If so I will believe the hype.

Just sick of hearing about ALL of the price drop stuff, when it really never happens.
