SCHWEET

I love the 194X series.

Here's hoping for the Strikers series that Psikyo made also makes it to 360.

OH MY GOLD-PLATED FIBULA. Bionic Commando, Street Fighter, not-bionic Commando, and now 1942?! Capcom, what's with the hyper-awesome as of late?!? :D :D :D :D :D

I'd rather see them release, or at least release some more information, on Commando. Instead, its no where to be seen while they keep announcing new XBLA projects.

Let's hope the ending screen after doing all 30-something levels is more than just:

"GAME OVER"

That was one of the tragic/comic highlights of my childhood - playing through the long, (not so much HARD ... but tedious) game that was 1942 to get that end screen.

There's a new trailer out (at least I think it's new):

Plus they announced that people who purchase Commando 3 on XBLA will get to play a Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta for free:

Remake looks pretty, however it gets compared to modern games; the difference is that the original 1942 game has fond memories and one of the reason you play retro is to relive memories. For me, I would stay with the original version (play it via MAME).

A straight port of 1944 would have rated higher in my book but, I like this one too and only slightly less.

1942 was my least favorite of the 194X series.

I absolutely love 1942. Great game. Too bad I don't have a 360 or a ps3.

I wonder if Backbone Entertainment will include an option to replace the music with the ear scratching NES port's Morse code :P

Though Pac-Man and Donkey Kong kicked off the arcade revolution, it was top-down shooters such as Capcom's 1942 that got many hooked on videogames in the '80s :shameful:

After reading the review it sounds like it's going to be a great game, but I don't see how they're calling it a remake of 1942; it's clearly nothing at all like 1942. It seems to me like a whole new game in the 194X series. Either way, I'm getting it! (I need to pick up one of those Xbox 360 things...)

if they don't... you can always emulate the sound by throwing about 3 cats in the dryer while you're playing, it'll have about the same effect.

Capcom all of a sudden are turning into this wonderful company making remakes to all the
cool games of yesterday, what I dont understand is why the hell other companies cant do this properly?

Super Street Fighter II HD Remix
Street Fighter 4
Commando 3
Bionic Commando (Both editions)
and now this! awsome I think im going to have a nostalgia orgasm.

For a moment, I was worried this would be *very* similar to the original. Very unforgiving and a bit bland. How wrong I was.
Capcom looks to have a definite winner this one, and it just adds another reason to get an Xbox360 if you like shooting games.

I was gonna get this today, but now I'm saving my points for Galaga Legions and Geometry Wars 2.

The demo was okay, a far cry better than Commando 3. But not up there with the likes of Ikaruga and Triggerheart Exelica.

My thoughts exactly. Personally, there are only so many shooters I can have and reasonably play at one time. I think I'll pass on this one for the time being.

Which of the later games is it that if you start at 12 o'clock with the joystick and go 1-9-4-2 clockwise will give you that music? I think it's 194X.

I just downloaded it and played a few games (and a few online games) and I'm very satisfied with my $10 purchase.

I remember some early press on the game ... I'm not sure where or who stated that there "wasn't a lot going on on-screen" ...

... well, I only played on the NORMAL setting and there was TONS of stuff going on on screen, so either Backbone listened to that reviewer OR that reviewer was smoking crack.

I've played through just about all of the 194X series, and I think that this is a pretty nice DLC next-gen addition to the series overall. I love anything that has online gameplay so that's a plus in my book ... the subtle touches in the graphics like the scratched film stock when transitioning, and the beautiful rolling cloud graphics are great.

I see no reason not to recommend this to fans of the series.
