Hi,

First of all, I'd like to announce that after nearly two years I have returned to the fabulous community of the roundtable :) I did return for a single post around 6 months ago to let you all know I was selling all my stuff on eBay, but for the most part I've not logged in since 10-07-2006, 02:00 AM.

Secondly, in case anybody was considering selling all of their games & consoles... DON'T... I can tell you now that you will regret it, without question.

So yes, I sold all of my games save for my all-time favourites, most of my consoles, and a load of DVDs too. I was having serious financial troubles and it was the only solution I could even consider. However, now that I am financially secure once again, I am really longing for my collection back (especially the harder to get pieces, and my personal signed items etc)

But enough of my sad story! :) Hello everyone, how's it going? What's changed around here & in the world of classic gaming since July 06? Apart from my "Seller Feedback" which is in my signature, which has mysteriously dissapeared :P

Peace,
Dan

I only have one question.

Once you sold off all that you did, how much of an impact did the profits gained actualy have on your personal debt? I ask because I suspect while it had some, it somehow didnt have nearly as much as you'd have perfered when you first started selling it.

Oh believe me, it didn't have anywhere near enough impact to make me happy about doing it, but I raised around £1500 which helped enough to make it worthwhile at the time. I wasn't actually in dept, per se, I was out of work with bills coming in & needing something to pay them with, as I don't believe in loans / credit cards, but that's just something my parents always drilled into me.

I'm not a big fan of loans of credit cards myself either as the interest rates alone often aproach or exceed the legal level here in the states.

Thanks Oobgarm, couldn't find that for the life of me :P

EDIT: Are there now special requirements for having features such as BBCode? Because it worked fine until I edited it, I also notice that I have "64 out of 50 allowed" in my PM Inbox :P

You should remove the quotes from your BBCode and everything should be back to normal.

And you'd better clear out that PM box, or you won't get any more. :P

There seems to be some sort of flex on the inbox limits such that when you exceed the limit, the limit actually goes down. I have a 200 msg limit, but at some point when it was full I was at 200 out of 50 allowed (or somesuch). Maybe it has something to do with recent activity.

I removed the quotes from my BBCode and It's still not showing up properly... In the signature editor, it says "BBCode: No"

I hope you don't mind, I fixed it for you. I went in to see what was wrong with it, and figured I'd do it while I was there. You now need quotation marks around your urls, which is the only thing you were missing. The BBCode thing I'm not sure about.

Sold off the collection... Ugh. I am sort of at that point. Unrelated to finance or job situation. Just no time or prospect of such for a while (everything just sits there, it's sad). Space issues have also popped up. I am holding off. Especially after reading your post and many like it. Welcome back.

Are you planning on reacquiring any of your personal favorites?

Thanks for the walm welcome back guys :) Mianrtv & Poofta: I certainly do plan to try and reacquire as many of my favourites as I can afford realistically (which is where I failed last time, I would just buy buy buy without being careful) I would especially like to try and get my Dreamcast collection back in shape, as I was actually only 9 games from a complete European set, it's the machine that saw me through highschool so it holds a special place in my heart. Currently, I don't even HAVE a Dreamcast anymore :'( Funny because I still have a good 20-30 games for it :P
