Got my first Yoshi for free at a garage sale. A few days later I found that he would hang nicely on the handles of our CD holder. Found a few more free ones and then bought some more at thrifts in those bags of junk. I only paid more than $1 for one, maybe two of them (exceptions when there were other things in the bag I could use/give). It is quite the cacophony of cluster-fuck bleepage when you press all their buttons as quickly as possible.

I just hope I'm able to stop now...

Man, I never find VG related toys at the Thrifts around here. The best I ever did was a bunch of sealed FF8 action figures.

Looks kind of cool on the CD holder. Nice work.

I've seen those Yoshis around a couple times before (in the UK) could you explain to me what/where they are from? e.g. A particular series of toys.

And I know it's off-topic, but you have the exact same wooden shelf thingy (on the right) as me, oh how I wish I could find a couple more, they're amazingly useful!

It was a McDonalds Happy Meal toy from late 2006. One of a series of six Nintendo-themed giveaways. You can see the whole series here (http://gonintendo.com/?p=5034).

Odds are good that my kids have one of those Yoshis in the bottom of their toy box. I found it a rather annoying toy myself, but it looks like Cornelius has managed to put several of them to good use. Well done.

Congrats!

I see game related toys at the thrifts every now and then, and unsurprisingly, it's kids meal stuff like this 99% of the time. I have one of those Yoshis, and it's hanging off of a game shelf (I used to have another one, but traded it off to another DP'er).

I also have three other "Mario Challenge" toys: DK (though he's missing the spinning discs, but still looks cool on a shelf), the Yoshi Pop and Catch, and the Mario ball (aka the Mario throw and catch).

Haha, that's great. I love it. :)

This topic is infinitely more interesting than had it been about getting all the games for a particular system. :P

That Vs. Game & Watch is teetering precariously on the edge of your CD cabinet ... my obsessive compulsive tendencies want to move it closer to the center so it won't fall and smash into a million bits of LCD and plastic.

I know I had gotten some of those DK spinners in some of the bags of crap, if I can locate them I'll send 'em your way.

phew... when I originally posted this there were over 50 views without a response, so I figured everyone was just PO'd. Glad to see I was wrong ;)

It isn't as precarious as it looks, but just for you I nudged it back a bit. Actually, I had to clean up the area a bit (hard to believe that's the case, I know) to take the picture, so I adjusted the G&Ws so they'd be visible.

It's a bakers rack, I also have one but mine has 5 shelves. They are a lot sturdier than your classic wallyworld bookshelves, and are great for game systems...

Not to derail the thread though.

I didn't know that's what they were called/how they originated. I think ours came from Target.

That's where mine came from, do the shelves flip up on hinges? The reason for this is so anything on the shelf under can properly cool/dry with as much heat escape as possible. An institutional baker's rake is a wire shelf, that way you don't have to "Turn" your bread to allow the heat to escape from the bottom. These wooden ones were designed to be easier on the eyes in a home kitchen therefore the "Whole" shelf was returned.

That is if you don't have anything on that shelf. Mine was a gift to use when I made baked goods from my house years ago, but I Use it for Video game systems because I like the open back for wires and such, also it's made from hard wood, not cheezy particle board.

Just a little FYI I guess...

I see you have the 3 Extended Edition LOR movies. Did you know that you could send in a coupon for a while after they put out Return of the King, and they'd send you a slipcase? It was like 3 bucks or something. I got one that way.

Just noticing...

yep.

LOL thanks for indulging the "Adrian Monk" side of me.

I've got too much love in my heart for Game & Watch units to see one potentially, accidentally meet an untimely doom...especially one of those Vs. units.

Which one is that?

My first was a dual-screen Mario's Cement Factory...GAH! I wish I had kept all of mine over the years...so valuable now.

I HAD kept a (Non Nintendo...TOMY or BANDAI I think) Burgertime LCD game up till very recently, but I think somebody stole it from me at a party I had held here once, as it mysteriously dissapeared one day never to be seen again. :(

I love the way the little controllers come out and wind their own cords up. It is just a cool design.

Was your burgertime the one with the little thumbstick? We had one of those when I was a kid and I played the crap out of it. I love that game in LCD form cause you can move your guy around really damn fast.

Bah you call yourself a collector... None of those are sealed.

I expect you to start glueing them to the side now that the front is filled up.

Haha. I actually opened a sealed one so he could hang out with his friends. :eek 2:

I saw two more at the thrift today, but they were in bags of crap for 2.60, which is... er, was well over my price limit way back last week when I was still collecting. Hmmm... it is 25% off day, maybe I should go back!

Yup, that's the one. A GREAT LCD game ... and a very very fun and fast version of Burgertime!
