Anyone know what the status of this Wii/PSP/PS2 title is? Release dates have come and gone several times, there's no news about it, and its not in the system for some major retailers like GameStop.
Was hoping to get it since I enjoyed the first Pinball Hall of Fame. We've already missed out on the bonus tables Europe got when the Gottlieb one was rereleased with additional content on the Wii. Would be ashame if we never get the Williams one.

The only place I've seen it for pre-order was playasia.com, but they charge $5 over for U.S. titles even if they're shipping to the U.S.

Wow, I totally forgot about this one. I was a big fan of the original PHOF...was waiting a while for the Williams Collection but it kept getting pushed back and back until I stopped caring.
Hope it does come out eventually. Some great tables were supposed to be on it from what I remember.

It came out yesterday for the PS2 and should be out for the Wii by the end of this week. Amazon has the PS2 version in stock and the Wii version can be preordered. Just a heads up, Gamestop has not stocked some of the new PS2 releases like Iridium Runners or Heavenly Guardian. Not sure the reason for this, but there it is.

I didn't even know that there was a new Pinball Hall of Fame collection in the works. If it's true that the PS2 version was released yesterday, I'll be looking forward to adding it to my console pinball video game collection whenever I see it in a store.

I played the hell out of the incredible N.E.S. version that rare made.

Looks like another game that I'll have to keep my eye out for. I've always loved pinball games on the PC and even Pinball for the NES so this seems like another fun game.

Yep, and it also has Pinbot, Gorgar, Firepower, Black Knight, Space Shuttle, Taxi, Jive Time, Whirlwind, and Sorcerer. Nice collection, but I wish Black Knight 2000 was on there. That's my favorite table of all time.
And to the OP as to why EB/GS doesn't have this on their systems. They usually don't have budget titles on their systems.

SWEEEEEET!!
Definite purchase. Pinbot, Black Knight, and Whirlwind are some of my favorite tables.
Bring on the Bally tables, now!! (specifically, Twilight Zone)

Thanks guys
I haven't gotten around to ordering this yet, was hoping to get it in person but I've yet to see it locally.
Is Jive Time & Sorcerer worth paying over twice as much for the Wii version? I've seeing the PS2 version for 12.99-14.99 everywhere while the Wii version is $30, and has those two bonus tables.

I'd buy this in a heartbeat if it had Medieval Madness on it.
That is by far the greatest modern pinball I've ever played.

I got 5,000,000 on Flash when I was at FunSpot this weekend.
I heard about this collection, it's going to be on the Wii and it'll use the motion control to tilt the tables, that sounds neat.
Hopefully they make good reproductions of the tables. I saw the screen shot of Funhouse and Rudy looked awful. Hopefully it'll play better then it looks. If not, I'll stick to PinMAME

Just got it in the mail today from Amazon (free shipping! woo!). Played Pinbot and Black Knight for a little bit, had a lot of fun. Wish it ran in a higher resolution, I'm not too big on the sound, and it felt like there was a slight input delay on Black Knight that I guess I got used to. Looking forward to playing more throughout the week (and especially this weekend).
Now if only they'll do a release with Black Knight 2000. :(

Pinball Hall of Fame is a rerelease of last generation's Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection, for the Wii. Had additional tables and Wii controls, and came out in late 2006 in Europe and never made it out over here (The 2007 date is probably a preliminary date for a possible NA release that never happened).

Sorcerer (Wii only)

Are the ball physics and load times any better in this version than in the Gottlieb collection? If not I'll just stick to Pinball FX.

Ahh yes. Another "anyone else pick this up?" thread. LOL
Right after getting House of the Dead, which I was looking forward to, I got this. In spite of the fact that I was really looking forward to HOtD, Pinball Hall of Fame has become an addiction. Seriously, I got suckered into the "just one more game" thing Sunday night and next thing I knew it was 3:30 am.
Like the Gottlieb edition, it's a budget title. However, I think this one has improved on the earlier one in every way. The game feels more polished, the table goals are easier, the credit system more fair, etc. This one doesn't feel budget to me. The last one did.
Also new is the Wii controls. You hold the chuck in the left, Wiimote in the right and work the flippers with the triggers. But, you can nudge the table by moving the controllers. It's not as precise as using a thumbstick, but it feels a lot more like real pinball.
Though the graphics (on the Wii) look a bit last gen, you can look past that. The only thing I don't like is the interface, which is a pseudo arcade kind of like the old Namco Museums on PSX. Just give me a list of games, thanks.
Anyway, this is a killer pinball game. The tables are fun, the physics are tight, there's a good amount of variety and the price is right (I found this for $20.) Highly recommended, if you like pinball.

While the tables on the Williams collection are certainly recognizable and fun for any pinball enthusiast ....
.... I need to ask again (and I know it's largely rhetorical) : WHY IS THERE NO MEDIEVAL MADNESS??!!
Medieval Madness is one of the best designed "multi-level/interactive table" pinballs EVER ... and was easily one of Midways high-points, sadly coming at the end of their pinball-making days.
*sigh*
It seems a perfect fit for a showcase like this. If this collection sells enough maybe we'll get it in a sequel.

Are the ball physics and load times any better in this version than in the Gottlieb collection? If not I'll just stick to Pinball FX.
CW commented on the improved physics, but what about the load times? I can deal with load times between tables, but the last one had freaking load times between games! Unacceptable.
Captain Wrong
03-19-2008, 01:04 PM
I'm one of the most sensitive to loading times people I know and the loading times don't bother me at all. There's like a few seconds when you change tables, but that's it.
OK, I have one bitch, it still doesn't save your camera angle preferences. At least the default table angle is better this time (Smart Cam, which means it zooms in on the upper part of the table and shows the whole thing at about below halfway.) Still, why they couldn't have gotten this right, I don't understand.

This game is fantastic - I've been playing on Wii for a week or so. They really went the extra mile - each table a tutorial that shows you how to play the table (how to get multiballs, how scoring works, what shots to make, etc). For people like me who enjoy pinball, but don't really know what they're doing, this is a godsend. The presentation is also excellent - you can turn on/off an "arcade ambience" track to play in the background that helps you feel like you're in the arcade. Graphically it looks really sharp. There are a variety of game modes - single table play, tournaments, etc. Finally, each table has goals to meet - unlock multiball, score 1,000,000, make such-and-such a shot.
I give it an A. It's not a rushed-out cash-in type of title, and the developers really went the extra mile.
[Edit] the one thing I don't like is that while there isn't really load time between games on a single table, it does force you to go back to the table menu. It only takes a couple seconds, but sometimes (after a bad game) I'd like to just restart immediately. This is just a minor gripe, though.

I've been playing Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection (Wii) for the last few weeks and it's really grown on me. For $30, it's a fun, competently produced game.
The arcade where I choose which pinball game I want to play features mediocre graphics, but it doesn't end up being a distraction. The pinball tables themselves, which is the main aspect of the game, look fantastic. All of the table artwork is bright, colorful, and detailed. The 3D elements, like the flippers, bumpers, and ramps, look realistic. There are subtle reflections on each table, which enhance the realism. If the reflections are annoying, they can be disabled. (Keep in mind, I have a standard definition TV. I assume the game looks good on an HDTV, too.)
I'm not a pinball expert, but the sound effects seem accurate to me. The buzzes, beeps, and digitized voices sound like they're coming out of small, old, lo-fi pinball speakers, which is true to life. The other sound effects, like plungers, flippers, and bumpers, sound pretty clear.
I just beat the Williams challenge mode yesterday, which was fun and exciting. I've also been able to complete most of the table goals and unlock several Wizard goals.
Are the ball physics and load times any better in this version than in the Gottlieb collection? If not I'll just stick to Pinball FX.
The load times in the Williams Collection (Wii) are about one-and-a-half seconds long. Basically, they're non-existent. The "Loading..." messages barely flash on the screen before I'm back in the game.
I haven't played the Gottlieb Collection, but the physics in the Williams one are very good.

Just a small bump to let people know that Target has this game (Wii version) for $20. It's really fun, though I wish they'd have the A button used instead of B for the right flipper.

Keep your eyes open at Target on this one...I got mine for $14 there, and I've seen it one other time at that price there, so YMMV of course, but even at $20 this is one of the best purchases you could make for your Wii.

The Wii version features ten tables. There aren't any unlockable tables, but there are some unlockable options, like custom ball, tilt, and mirror mode.
By the way, all of the tables in my game are available for free play. Is there any purpose to the 473 tokens I've collected now?

Anyone figure out how to unlock the other stuff like the custom balls, tilt, etc yet? I've got free play on all the tables now, and have completed all the basic challenges on each table and have completed the wizards challenges on a few of them. But these options are still locked...
Anyone have any ideas?

.... I need to ask again (and I know it's largely rhetorical) : WHY IS THERE NO MEDIEVAL MADNESS??!!
At my old job I started working for the internal audit department and I learned that lots of changes that were made in the company were due to legal reasons or licensing or some new regulation. I'd hear in the elevator on the way to my floor other workers complaining about how stupid the latest decision or change was or why something wasn't done, but they didn't realize there were legal or licensing ramifications (or perhaps trying to prevent) behind it.
It was amazing to me just how many decisions (and directions the company had to go in) the company had to make based basically just on legal reasons. So the answer to your question may not be they overlooked this great pin, but perhaps there's some odd licensing or royalty agreement associated with that game and it just can't be done (or will cost a lot of $ and time). Just a thought =)
Oh and this game was rated about 7.5 in both Nintendo Power and Game Informer if I remember correctly.

As I think most people already know, this is coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Here's some information on the enhanced port of this title that should excite everyone that enjoyed the earlier version on the Wii/PS2/PSP.
3 New Tables - No Good Gophers, Medieval Madness & Tales of the Arabian Nights
Pinball Level Ranking
Enhanced Art and Physics
Online Leader Boards
More/Expanded Table Goals
Three new tables has me pretty excited. i believe Medieval Madness is one that many people were hoping would eventually be included on one of these things. Tentative release date is the end of July. Combine all this with HD graphics and this should easily be the best video pinball title to date. Should be a fun game to work towards collecting all the achievements/trophys as well.

I already have the game on Wii, but Medieval Madness is one of my favorite tables, so I'll probably get the PS3 version, especially if it's budget-priced like the Wii version was.

Unlike the Wii version, I hope this Xbox 360 version gets released in the UK, or is at least region free. That, coupled with achievements and HD graphics make it a superior purchase for me anyway.
