I never do. One full page is enough to click. If something gets no replies in 12 hours, it's lost to my world.
I guess that's what I like about newsgroup readers/usenet- fast scrolling through infinite posts with reply trees- that way I can see who replied and cherry pick what I read. Too bad the usenet these days is blah with a captial blah.

I've looked past the first page only if I've been away so long the new topic piled up past the first page. Fortunately this doesn't happen often as I usually check twice a day, more often if I'm really bored.

I read (almost) every single new post to the board on a daily basis. I'll skip some of the new posts if I don't care about the topic, but I just start at the bottom of the unread posts, and "view next topic" all the way up until there's nothing left.

I almost never look past the first page, but I check it at least daily, so I usually don't miss much.

I always look with "View posts since last visit", so it's easy to saw the old stuff.
I look about every other day, for posts after/responding to mine.
I skip uninteresting topics, & those that are titled so ambiguously that the author WANTS a high view # (ex: "What is..." or "Do you...") I try to be as specific & succint as I can for this reason. No one here comes to mind, but I've seen it on a "neighboring" forum...
Oh, on multi-page topics I'll just check the last/latest page. If it peaks my interest I'll go back & read 'em all...

I normally do... and I usually skip long winded posts too. Unless it's something that interests me.

I only go to page two for 2 reasons...
1. The topic somehow manages to catch my limited attention.
2. I posted something and want to see if someone replied to it.

I will often read past the first page unless its a topic I have no interest in what so ever, but even then I will. If it is getting enough posts to be more than a page, I usually think there most be a debate of some sort which I enjoy reading and might learn something or be made aware of something I did not know. But if the debate is only name calling and not truly an educated debate, I will not waste my time.

Given that I haven't been able to visit as much as usual, I've found that it just takes too long to go over everything that has accumulated, even after only not looking for just over a day or so, there's just too much green O_O. So rather than flicking over pages of posts I prefer just to check out the first page and actually read the threads rather than skimming hastily over them.
People here post a LOT O_O

I haven't had to go to the second page in a long time. if the new posts do extend to the next page, I'll check it out though. One thing that bugs me is that if you come to the site, and leave without looking at all the new posts, they get marked as read anyways, so if I don't read them all in one sitting, then I will wind up missing something. It's like a trap. A video game message trap.

Ah HA! So it wasn't just the makings of my own paranoid mind! I'm not the only one that feels that once you start reading, you can't finished until they're ALL read, or else you'll never know what you missed!!
