Which is better?

Leaf switch of Micro Switch for an arcade Joystick?

I am interested in 8 direction movement (being able to read diagonal movements). My microswitch seems to have broken, so I am looking to replace it.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Anyone have a preference?

leaf switch is quieter no clicking sounds. That's all I know.

I like the distinct feeling that a microswitch offers... you know exactly when the switch is triggered. However, if leaf switches are set up well... movement / button trigger seems quicker. It's a wash.

I know arcade diehards who swear leaf is more "real", but they also are usually more expensive, and wear out much faster. I too like the click that a microswitch gives, it's sometimes easier to be sure that you're pulling a move off properly when you have that sign.

Matter of taste, really. If you grew up playing with on an arcade machine like Pac-Man with leaf switches, you'll immidiately know the different feel between leaf and the microswitches in, say, Tekken Tag's machine. If you crave the authentic feel of the classic machines, go for microswitches. They aren't really better or worse than microswitches, except perhaps in the fact that you can adjust their sensitivity.
