I've noticed a trend over the last few months, something i never really thought about until now. I've noticed quite a few people selling copies of betas. These are generally modern titles, PS2 or newer. In a number of cases, these are betas that were never on a disc to begin with, like Halo 3 Epsilon. The way online distribution is setup these days, some games have review copies being sent over partnernet or similar. Betas may not ever have a physical disc.
In the past, i've always been used to paying a set sum and buying the disc outright. Since the seller sold the disc, he can't (or at least shouldn't) sell more copies unless he has more originals. Now i'm seeing where if you talk to the right people, you can pay $50 and they'll email you a copy of a halo beta.
I just wanted to get some thoughts on this...
Strangely, i have no problem with this. As long as both parties know that only a copy is being sold, i don't see the issue really. You get to sell a few copies and make back some of the original purchase price, and eventually the game will leak to the public anyway.
