NHL Series for Genesis

I could have sworn that there was very minimal commentary on the games, but I just purchased NHL '97 and theres nothing at all. I thought I remember playing these games originally and there was a guy that would announce goals and assists in an enthusiastic manner. Could have it possibly been in NHL '98? I'm almost 100% sure its for the Genesis. Can anybody here possibly help figure out what game this was?

I played all of the NHL games on Genesis and don't remember any commentary. The SegaCD had a little commentary before the game started, but nothing in-game.

Did the PS1 games have anything similar to the vertical scrolling hockey games like the Genesis? I thought that they tried to make it look all 3D, and I don't recall playing anything like that.

It wasn't so much commentary, it was something like "Islanders goal, Ziggy Paaaaaaaaaalffffy!!, assisted by Todd bertuuuuuuuzzi" and that was about it. It was somewhat comical, and it bothers me that I can't remember what game it was from.

Yeah, the PS1 games were in 3D but there was a vertical scrolling camera option that *kinda* made them look like the Genesis games. None of the Genesis games had commentary like that though.

NHL '99 had some commentary after the whistle but it was pretty dry. Like "Detroit power play goal by #19, Steve Yzerman" and stuff like that. It might be the Face Off or Powerplay series you're thinking of but I've never played those.

I played a demo version of NHL FaceOff '98 or '99, and I do remember Mats Sundin of the Leafs scoring, and the announcer doing what TwinChargers mentioned.

The only problem with this is that I never owned a Saturn, I went straight from Genesis to Playstation. It might have been a FaceOff game, but I can't remember owning one and I cannot find it anywhere. This is a game I would have never sold either. Unfortunately I sold off all my Genesis stuff though, and I'm trying to reaquire all of it.
