I have a friend who recently invested in a YOBO US NES style FC Mini, and has been poking around for a good HK multicart for a while now.

Unbeknownst to him, I had a spare multicart that I was willing to give him (he REALLY wanted SMB 2 JAP which is on there) ... I had pretty much all of the games on it on other multicarts that I owned ... what I DIDN'T have to give him was a spare HK HoneyBee or official 1985 Gyromite adapter, so, to date I hadn't even offered the cartridge to him.

In the meantime, I've been checking the DP store for launch, no-top-tab standard-screw NES games that might have the official adapter in them, OR a HoneyBee style adapter ... and up till today I'd had no luck finding one.

TODAY, finally, they had a HoneyBee style adapter traded in that I bought, so I took it home and decided instead of giving my friend the Famicom Multicart with the adapter (I know he's really not an import enthusiast and doesn't have any use for the adapter as a multi-use tool) I decided to gut an old copy Gyromite and make a permanent US style cartridge out of it.

Of course, in doing that, and finishing off the project as a "nice" looking gift - I had to make a LABEL for it ... I couldn't just give it to him with the Gyromite label on it. SO, I jumped onto photoshop and made a nice design, and printed it to a glossy label to adorn the newly crafted US NES multicart with.

Here's what I finished up with ... what do you guys think?

(And yes, I did keep BOTH the adapter AND the multicart shells so everything can go back as it was if there's ever any need for that.)

Very nice! I did the same thing a while back with a converter I found in an Excitebike, but I never got around to printing up a nice label for it. The label looks really solid, what exactly did you use and how did you stick it on?

HP high gloss photo paper printed at 300 DPI, and permanent-tack spray glue.

I gave it a bit of a stress test yesterday, it's definitely not coming off, and it's not susceptible to fingerprints or smudges ... it's pretty high quality paper/glue.

If it ever does start to lift, I'll re-print the image on sticker-grade paper and laminate the page with something similar to what's found on real NES carts.

I've seen people who do repros use that stuff, but I wasn't sure where to get it at the time.

**EDIT**

Did a few test prints using high-grade "label paper" covered in stick-on lamination sheets, and the overall quality wasn't as good as the glossy photo paper.

Glossy photo paper definitely looks the most "authentic" on a NES cartridge. Probably not AS durable over-all, but if you get high end stuff and print at a high DPI, you're golden if you handle it carefully (which I would assume most collectors/enthusiasts would do).

In the future I'll have to test glossy white vinyl bumper-sticker grade inkjet sheets.

Looks nice...though a little more time and effort than I'd every put into something but I'm a bit lazy.

I'm the exact opposite ... once I get my head into a "project", I wind up burning time that I can't afford to spare on it ... especially if it's a gift for a friend.

I just figured he was trying to get into his friend's pants! :o

I'd put out for a good multicart!

Especially one with both SMB 2 JAP, The Goonies 1, AND Tengen Tetris on it.

;)

Likewise. That's why it made sense to me!

Wow, Frankie that is amazing. I really wish I had the creativity and know how to do something like that. If it was me, I would just tell my friend to get a converter or a Generation NEX. LOL

...Thanks, Frankie.

Now I've got a new quest, I need to find a good XXX in 1 multicart, and use that label. It looks so spiffy.

Now, to find a cheap cheap multicart, hmmm.
