what are the physical differences from a US version of the Neo Geo AES and a Jap version? how can you tell them apart?

also the difference in the serial numbers.... and is it true that US version of the system with a low serial number have better video and sound quality?

Systems with a serial no of under 90k have better RGB output. If you're wanting to run the system via RGB then you want to be performing the RGB by-pass mod anyway as the video encoder chip arses the output.

US systems have censorship. Get a UniBIOS and you'll be good to go.

Other than the BIOS...they are the same...Japanese units stock will only play games in Japanese language (yes, even if the cart is a US cart). Going to UniBIOS will enable you to pick not only the language but also the type (AES, MVS) and enter cheats among other nifty features.
