The 16-bit version of Strider is loader with fantastic looks from start to finish!
I've always liked games that are "loader with fantastic looks"

And Strider Hiryu never had a dog...
They probably saw the panther for a split second and assumed it was a dog, like in Shadow Dancer arcade & Genesis.

Blue Almanac - released in Japan only - was to be Star Odyssey in the west

F-15 Strike Eagle II - I remember it was shown in early 1990. There was video of it at Toys R US! This preview is from mid 1990. I don't think this version came out, or at least not anytime that year or the following year. F-15 Strike Eagle II for Genesis seemed to disappear off the radar like Vette! but then in 1993 the game (perhaps the real Genesis port not footage of the computer version) showed up and was released.

You sure Joe Montana Football wasn't released? I remember that game maybe different system :/
Now I really want to play Battle Mission.
Macress (Seismic) couldn't have become Saint Sword (Taito), unless there was something up with the licensing rights? Seismic was awesome. I've always wondered what happened to it.

The version of JMF that was released was vastly different from the one pictured here. That's because there were actually several versions of the game under development simultaneously by several teams. Read the full story here (http://www.sega-16.com/feature_page.php?id=298&title=Behind%20the%20Design:%20Joe%20Montana%20Foo tball).

The developers are different, Seismic and Taito, but there's several clues that they may be the same game. In Saint Sword you play someone called Macress. I found that out from Googling. Also, in that small Macress preview it says you transform into different characters. You also transform in Saint Sword. I'm not 100% certain they're the same game but the coincidences are too strong to ignore.
