Does S-E even plan on releasing these Star Ocean remakes in the U.S. still?

The screen shots look nearly exactly the same as the original. :P If you want to show it off, you should at least show some pictures with the new portraits and anime scenes and what have you. Granted, the new art is pretty crappy, especially for Production I.G. standards, and there's not a lot of new stuff to show off anyway since it's just a port with a few minor extras thrown in.

I will be incredibly angry if they do not FINALLY translate the first Star Ocean game. This is a perfect opportunity, with the popularity of the Star Ocean series and the sales of PSP systems on the rise.
They denied me Star Ocean: Blue Sphere (SO2 sequel) on the GBC because the 'characters wouldn't fit on the cart'. They better not pull that crap again.
I can live without SO2, as I can play that game anyday on my custom firmware.
Heck, I thought Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix would come over since it had a complete PS2 version of Chains of Memories, but no, they completely screwed us on that one, too.
There's no excuse not to bring Star Ocean 1 over. Please don't screw us over again.

Im a pretty pessimistic guy when it comes to SCEA. So I kinda doubt we will be getting this game considering their past denials for certain game releases' in the states. If they want to sell the psp; then why should they deny great games from coming to the states? SCEA is just a organization that isn't based on any logic. Instead of getting this game I think we have more chance of seeing 10 more GTA clone games that we don't give a crap about come out on psp.

What are you talking about? If anything we've gotten a massive influx of quirky Japanese-y games on both the PS2 and PSP. I'd say the odds of both PSP Star Oceans coming here are actually pretty good.
Blue Sphere didn't come here because, yeah, it would have required a lot of work to do the translation. Chrono Cross faced a similar problem but expected profits encourage the application of a bit more elbow grease. But where was the profit in putting that same effort into Blue Sphere? A late gen GBC game that's a sequel to a relatively niche PS1 game doesn't exactly scream "Profit!" So, though I'm upset I can't play it in English (unless fan translators jump in) I understand why it never made it here.
Star Ocean has at least gotten better treatment here than the Tales series has. Ok, so the first game didn't come. Kinda sucks. We did get the second game and the best version of the third game. Now it looks like we're getting an update of the first and second games. So all in all, we really only missed out on Blue Sphere.
Tales of Phantasia, however, has no fewer than FOUR versions and which do we get? The absolute worst of the bunch.
