Well, it's just one bid so far. It's not like demand has driven it up that high. Wouldn't really surprise me if others got in on it before it was done though.

I think that is pretty low compared to what this guy's wife paid for it.

What I like is this:

Dude I'm taking a real chance by bidding on this but I'm feeling lucky. Also you seem legit and if you aren't you'll be getting your first negative response ever and how long have you been a member? Years! And it would be a shame to see all that go down the drain but I DO BELIEVE THIS IS REAL SO I'M GONNA GO AHEAD AND BID. Also could I get that video you were talking about and also a pic of the back of the cartridge.

I like his "warning": if the auction isn't legit, the seller's getting negative feedback!

Where's DreamTR? He's the one who could tell if its legit or not.

I don't think I'd ever want to pay that much for a single game.

This is the guy that bought my NWC proto for much monies. He's not likely to scam anyone on this, he seemed like a very honest guy to deal with.

Huh?

Definally a repo (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/repo)? You mean definitely a repro?

Looks pretty real to me.

Either way, why the heck is this in the Rarity Guide forum?

As I've stated, I've seen this exact same auction on ebay several times. If you look at the website I've posted, you would see that it looks very similar to the game in the auction. Also, if this was a true game, it would be worth much much more then the 1g its going for now. And its in the rarity forum because earthbound was never released for the nes silly. Oh and yes I was wrong definitely wrong on 'definally" but right on repo. O_o

It's real as far as I know. It's on an official Nintendo board and I believe it was part of the jollerancher find a couple years ago. See this thread for more info on that find:

If its real, then cool. Very nice item, especially for a collector. However, I get nervous with that type of transaction. I wouldn't want anyone to be taken for a sucker, and spend tons of money on something that is worthless. I've heard nightmare stories before on ebay O_o

Buddy, what the hell are you talking about?

Real or not, the cart from came from jollerancher as stated in the auction...

Repro (as in reproduction)...not repo (as in repossession).

Repro (as in reproduction)...not repo (as in repossession).

Repo, when dealing in video's games means reproduction. Its similar to having a different way of saying the same word. Just because the ebay post stated this came from a person's collection, doesn't necessitate it. For instance, I could copy/paste the picture from that auction onto an ebay bid, put a repo that I bought off a website for sale, and potentially sucker a person. Could this bid be real? Absolutely. However, can it be a scam? It could. I just would hate to see a person "waste" a lot of money on an item that has no real collectible value. Unfortunately, unlike pieces of art, there are few ways to check on the "authenticity" of a video game (at least that I know of). If this item is real, then the person won a great piece of video game nostalgia. If not, then I feel really badly for them. Also, there is no reason to be "nasty" in this thread.

I suggest calming down, and explaining yourself in a mature manner :)
I suggest not using sock puppets...you get banned for that here (as you've already found out).

I've never heard the term "repo" used for anything other than repossession of property OR repository.

I believe that when discussing video games, REPRO is the correct slang for reproduction, and the only one for that.

Smith! You old scoundrel, where have you been hiding yourself? How are Mertle and the kids? Does Fluffy still have that tapeworm? Anyway, good to see you, old chap. But I think you are confused! This thread was about repro carts, and the link in your signature takes us to a page about repo cars. You are a stitch, as always! I am amazing with you.
