View Full Version : Why no Xyanide on U.S. PS2?

If you've played this Robotron-esque shooter that on Xbox, you know it was pretty good. Apparently, the game was released on PS2 in Japan, even though Playlogic, the developer, isn't Japanese. I could have sworn they were American (I thought I read this in Play magazine).
Anybody know why this wasn't released on PS2 in the U.S.? Was it because of the poor sales of the Xbox version?

It's still on the PS2 release list with a date of TBD. Obscure Aftermath just came out and it was announced at the same time as part of a distribution deal for Ignition, so I wouldn't be surprised if this still slips out sometime. Playlogic has a US distribution arm in New York, but their development studio is in the Netherlands.

Yeah, I know the game sold like a brick on the Xbox since it was one of the last releases and most people had moved on by the time it came out. But I did see the Japanese version available on playasia.com, so I just thought I would ask.
And I didn't know Playlogic's studio was in the Netherlands. I learned something new today.

If you still want a Xyanide fix, there is a PSP version.

Yeah, I've already got it on Xbox. It was just one of those weird things. I kept seeing it on playasia and I wondered about it. Good game, though.

Sales were crappy on the xbox, it's not likely they would have sold enough on the PS2 to meet the minimum print requirement. Not worth printing...

Well, there is a Xyanide for PAL systems. Is that the same game you guys are talking about?
