Solar Assault working in Mame?

can anyone clear this up for me? does solar assault (3-d Gradius) work in the current mame? ive looked over the net and cant get a straight answer.

It'll work, you just have to boot it up with the test switch held down the first time I believe.

On my Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz it runs at ~50-60% full speed, but it's neat seeing it running.
