The thread about the Solar Assault arcade game got me thinking about this environmental arcade game I played about 11-12 years ago but I can't remember the name.
Was at a Fun Factory arcade and the thing was HUGE. the game was basically a big room with a curtain at the entrance. Inside, there was a row of at least 4 stations (possibly 6) where you'd sit down at a small gun/turret. Gameplay wasn't that remarkable from what I remember...was a rail-shooter and it took place somewhere in space and everyone would try to blow up enemy ships.
Think it cost at least $2 to play and I think you had to pay an attendant and he'd have to manually start up the game.
Anyone know the name?

Galaxian 3 (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7889) or Attack Of The Zolgear (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=6973)?

Yeah, thats gotta be it. Thanks. I can't remember if it was Galaxian or Zolgear, but I'm almost positive that is what the cab looked like. It's a beast!
Wiki article said it cost $150,000 new. Woah.

Sounds like one of the Galaxian 3 sequels.... The first Galaxian 3 machines could have 26 players, at once.
The sequels only had 6 players.
Still - I thought all the Galaxian 3 games only came out in Japan... I'd love to play it, too.

It's not quite the same experience, but Galaxian3 was also available for the PS1 as an import (http://www.thelogbook.com/phosphor/1995/galaxian3-ps1/). It's kinda cool. :-P

Cool... right down to the line down the middle of the screen, where they put the two halves of the arcade video together! Fun game.

Is the PS1 version mouse compatible? I actually have one of those things and am looking for a excuse to use it.

I don't know if they only came out in Japan or not but I know there were lots of them here in the states. Our local Le Mans had one up until about a year or so ago. For a while the right projector was out but you could still play the left hand side ...
