Nothing this morning. Guy said they take the clearance prices from GameStop then they apply them to their inventory which is wrong cause Folklore was on clearance for $14.98 but if you go to GS its $29.99...weird..

blue dragon 14.88

Damn it!! Anyways I just found out where the end cap was with clearance games at Fairfield Target...all this time i been look by the gaming section where it says $29.99 when the f00king end cap with games is by the DVD movies...god I'm a n00b

I posted this in the duplicate thread... not knowing this one in existed an alternate reality. Although it seems a few may have beat me to it. But-

You do realize Target clearance does not operate the same way CC does. Prices markdowns and clearance sales are rarely corporate-wide, so quite often specials your target may have- no other target would have. Now I understand, that target often has specials in their ad- but these are different kinds of sales. If you go to slickdeals.com you'll notice that "target clearance" threads are always followed by YMMV (your mileage may vary). While good deals may be had at your target, a very small (or no) percentage of DP'ers would be able to take advantage of this.

I know a lot of DP'ers are in Jersey from what I seen and spoken to in PM so this could be useful, I seen a lot of cases where games are same on clearance at a few locations. But thanks for the YMMV to the other guy I been dying to know what that was.

Yep, I used to work for Target at multiple stores and it was different for each store. The warehousing computers will go through the inventory and if a store had over x amount of a certain item, then it would be clearanced.

There were of course depatment/company wide clearance stuff, but that's more for seasonal items (ie, Easter, Xmas).

The bit about Target looking at EB/GS's prices and then adjusting theirs is BS.

One thing to keep in mind is that most stores only have one person (if that) who goes through overnights marking the clearance. The clearance price sticker often isn't the correct price.

I went by a couple of Austin targets yesterday and came home with some sweet 360 clearance items: "Two Worlds" and "The Simpsons Game" for $12.48, "Viva Pinata: Party Animals" for $7.xx, and a Halo 3 wireless controller with Master Chief figurine for $41.xx. I needed a second controller, and I'd not seen these cleared out anywhere else.

BTW, there's lots of discussion of Target clearance over at Cheap Ass Gamer -- see http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174477 (you'll need to register to view it).

One the local Targets in town had Viva Pinata (it was I think approx. $14.XX) and they also had Star Wars Battlefront II for the XBOX for about $8.XX or $9.XX.

Even though they aren't company-wide you can find out which games to keep an eye on as I do by watching the target clearance thread at cheapassgamer.com since if it drops at one target it'll eventually drop at another. I haven't made out great at the targets in my area (nothing close to what I have at K-mart or Shopko where I consistantly find clearance deals) but recently I did pick up a copy of Monter House for gba at $3.75 on clearance there as well as Tony Hawk Proving Ground for wii at $12.50 (ended up going to my sister's boyfriend).

You have to be wiley to catch the items at the 75% off point before it drops out of the system and gets shipped off to goodwill.

this isnt cheapassgamer.com

no matter how hard you want this to become a deals forum, its not. why the hell is this in Modern Gaming forum? at the very least it should be B&S or something. i hate seeing this crap pollute the forum. whats next? we make a TRU, Wallmart, Best Buy, Circuit City clearance threads too? should we just copy every thread in cheapassgamer over to here?

cmon guys... this is annoying. i understand if there is some crazy quirky jap game about to take reserves but this is silly.

Usually they only are marked down on Monday mornings or I think I've heard someone mention Thursday as well.

Like I said before, there isn't a definite day of the week when the clearance stuff is marked, if it is even done weekly.

Also, I don't know if things have changed since I worked in the stores, but if stuff doesn't sell on clearance, it isn't donated to Goodwill. In most cases, it's either sent back to the manufacturer or simply tossed.

For games, Target will usually mark it down to like 90% off before it's taken off the shelves. I've picked up a couple of Xbox1 games there recently for $2 and under.

Since you asked for it... here's a Circuit City Clearance thread- that was merged from two threads.

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110478

If you'd like, you could start the Best Buy thread. And to make things really effective... I'll start separate "Carolina Only" versions of all those you listed. We could really shape this place up for the better- with a little work.

Why stop at the first two pages...seriously though since the target clearance thread is one of only a couple things I check on CAG I wouldn't complain about having one here since that would save me the trip to that site.

I never understood why someone would complain about a topic like this? The title says what it is, just don't read it. It is not like you HAVE to read every single thread and comment on each one. Several people find it helpful, including myself.

I know I went there on Sunday and I was like Holy ISH theres least 200 copies of it I had to literraly put them all on floor to make sure there were no Strangleholds or Crackdowns in between, one of the employees actually got mad at me and said

"what are you doing?"

I was like "Searching for a game?"

In semi-defense of the register jockey, the clearance endcaps were always a huge hassle to keep organized. He also might have just been worried that you were going to just leave all the games on the floor.
