View Full Version : 100% complete Super Famicom fullset, 1450 titles!
No, this is not an 1st april's fool!
After years of collecting, i stopped between 2000-2005.
Then i decided to go for the Super Famicom complete in box fullset, and grab the 500 last games i was missing.
It wasn't easy, especially for the 15-20 last ones who took me a year to locate (if not more, like 5 years for Emit Value Set)
It is always more difficult to find CIB SFC Games nowadays, compared to Saturn/PSOne and upper generation games, who pratically always have box&instructions (rarely loose CDs for sale, tons of loose carts)
There is approx. 1450 titles, classified alphabetically in japanese, from up to bottom, left to right, 20 by 20
This includes all Sufami Turbo games, most of the Nintendo Power EXCLUSIVE games (like Ring ni Kakero,Super Punch Out,Doctor Mario..),and many "hibaihins"/not for sale",like Chrono Trigger V Jump,Far East of Eden Zero V-Jump,Magical Drop 2 Special Version,etc..
If anybody has some questions about the games, just ask, I'll be glad to help.
I should end my Saturn Japanese fullset (around 1150 titles) in the next weeks as well, still 20 titles or so to grab, but great websites such as Satakore already exist with a great database.
Everything can be seen in my "room of doom" section:Super Famicom complete fullset (http://www.videogamecollectors.com/gallery/SuperFamicomCompleteCollection?page=1)

How many of the games are on the SFC memory carts? I've got a couple myself, took me ages to find the games I wanted (Super Famicom Wars for example) on them. And what's with the boxed "Starfox 2" out of curiosity? And are you counting all the Satelliview/BS games in the complete set as well?
And congrats... I actually wasn't sure you'd make it but I guess you really do have the contacts and determination to do it (more important than the money, anyone can have that!).

You sir, are a God amongst men. CONGRATULATIONS! It's not everday that someone does what you've done. And you have also proved to the dreamers that with a little hard work and a lot of time and money, it can be done.
What made you decide you wanted to collect Super Famicom? Why not shoot lower? Virtual Boy is a nice, easy goal. LOL
But really, I am in awe. The only system I have the complete collection for is the Sega Master System, which consists of 114 unique (US released) titles.
BRAVO!

This is a truly amazing collection. I love seeing all the boxes, I think they look nicer, for the most part, than their US counter parts.

Well there is about 15-20 EXCLUSIVE Nintendo Power releases, i mean games which were never release in Japan (with box & instructions) in stores.
Super Punch Out,Doctor Mario,Ring ni Kakero,Wizardry 1-2-3 are some.
But you could put as well on those SF Memory carts some "normal" games like Super Mario World,etc...they were just cheaper!
I'm only interested in the "exclusive" titles though.
Starfox 2 doesn't exist,it is a "creation" like other ppl do with Secret of Mana 2,etc.
I'm not counting Satellaview/BS Games, since they're only programs, no box or instructions or sticker ever made.

Maybe you didn't realize this is my 22nd or 23rd fullset.
I had already Virtual Boy fullset, Megadrive,PC Engine,or Dreamcast,etc.
Just check my album.
Is there anyway you could estimate how much you spent to achieve such a thing?
Around 20-25000 Euros,making near $40k nowadays,but us$ is VERY LOW.
I can't say precisely, because i got games for quite cheap last years, and i paid full price for other ones back in 1993.
But i'd say that if i had to sell it right now,it'd be for appprox. 25000€ (like 15€ by game)
Some released games are up to 300€ (Rendering Ranger), some "hibaihin" like Far East of Eden Zero V Jump are worth 800$.

Just looked at your collection. How do you do it man? 100% SEALED collection of Japanese Dreamcast games? I nearly shit myself looking at those pictures. @_@
Seriously, I am overwhelmed by your collection. Amazing really.
Thanks!
I had many of those fullset for years, but i decided recently (3 years ago) to show pics of it.
Many people say "i have this i have that",but most of them just can't prove it, and are generally lying. Sad.
I preferred then back at the time to prove what i said, and show pics :)
If anybody has a question in particular, i'd be glad to answer.
Or ask about a certain title, i could precisely say which one it is :)

You counted wrong.
Lines of 20 games, 8 lines by "library", 9 libraries
72 x 20 = 1440,and there's a few extra on the last one.
Very Impressive. Congratulations.
What's next ? Or like Alexander the Great, will you weep because there are no more worlds to conquer ? :D

What's next ? Or like Alexander the Great, will you weep because there are no more worlds to conquer ? :D
First,i only collect complete in box games, that's a minimum (box and instructions)..and when i can (and afford them),factory sealed.
So far,i "conquerred":
Nintendo:
Virtual Boy
N64
DD64
Super Famicom
maybe will end very soon CIB Famicom Disk System (200, but some games are up to 100000 Yens)...next step would be Famicom, but getting all of them complete in box is hard to do (around 1050 games,i only have 400)
Maybe i'll go for Japanese Gamecube, quite easy to do?
I do have like 150 GB/GBC/GBA games, but not interested in fullset.
SNK:
Neo Geo Pocket B&W & Color Japanese fullset
Neo Geo Pocket B&W & Color European fullset (clamshell cased)
Neo Geo CD Factory Sealed (all of them)
Atari:
Jaguar Factory Sealed (all of them)
Jaguar CD Factory Sealed (all of them)
Lynx (i'm missing some, like 95% fullset) Factory Sealed
All NEC fullsets:
PC-FX
PC Engine Hucard
PC Engine CD/SCD/Arcade CD
Supergrafx
(60% of the PCE 700 approx titles fullset are factory sealed)
and with my Saturn fullset coming next, all Sega fullsets:
Sega Mark 3
Megadrive
Mega CD
Sega 32X
Game Gear
Saturn
Dreamcast Factory sealed, all of them
I have too:
Sega Master System European fullset (the most complete one)+US/Brazilian/Australian extras
MSX Palcom LD fullset
95% complete Japanese Laseractive fullset (never found 3D Virtual Museum Australia)
I don't care about Sony or Microsoft either
I have many MSX,Marty,PC 88/98/FM 77,X68000 games,but i never planned to get a fullset of them.
And i sold Neo Geo AES & Game&Watch CIB like 5 years ago,so i could pay for all those ones.

Congrats Adol !!!!
This is indeed amazing ! I knew you were completing your SFC collection and I'm glad you succeeded !
How hard was it to find the last couple of games ? I remember you had a list of 10ish games to hunt down last time we talked... did you find them in Japan ?...
Anyway, great collection man, you rock !!!
I found like 9 of them in Japan by online shops & auctions, and 1 of them( a fishing game) on Ebay by a HK seller :)
It took me 6-8 months to track down the 10 last ones (shitty ones, hard to find: Go games, Shogi games, Fishing games..)...and i even found a game i was pratically convinced to not exist: Emit Value Set.
In fact a carton box holding the 3 Emit games, the EXACT same games than retail releases, easy to find..so in fact i located a VERY RARE carton box! :)
Wow. That's all I can think of to say.

Adol, you are my Idol. : )
I am seriously considering dumping my ~150 cart collection of the "best" of the Super Nintendo (99% loose carts) to replace them with complete copies. It just really, really hurts my wallet to think about doing that. Also hearing your cost estimate of 30K really gives me a reality check.
I can see the appeal in having a "complete" collection but I don't really think I'll be going that route. I don't think I or anyone else will care if I have a complete copy of Barley Shut Up and Jam.
Earthbound on the other hand...
Anyway, enough about me. Congrats!!!

I never had the kind of monye you mayb thought.I collected 2/3 of it between age 13 and 19.
Then,i decided to go for the last 1/3 within the last 3 years.
'm winning average french wage level, maybe slightly more (1500-2000€/month)
As told earlier, it is just 10% of my money i spent in it.And it is not BIG money.
Anybody with a nice car owns more than this.
But i spent hundreds of hours of searching.hunting for the best price all those games.
Like you mentioned, you gonna go for the complete Famicom or Japanese Game Boy next? I would love to know how many Game Boy titles there were in Japan only.

Impressive indeed, Adol. Congrats on achieving it... it's an amazing feat to say the least. Long live the SNES/SFC. Most of my SFC games are cart only, and I, for the most part, only bought the ones exclusive to Japan.
And what I want to know, how do you know there are exactly 1450 SF titles. I mean it's very difficult to find out in the first place. Could there be 1451, one game by some little unknown company? How do you know?
Compared to US releases, which are (more) easy to catalogue, I believe it's difficult where Japan releases are concerned.
Like you mentioned, you gonna go for the complete Famicom or Japanese Game Boy next? I would love to know how many Game Boy tiles there were in Japan only.
As said earlier in this thread, i'll never go for GB.
Maybe Famicom, who knows, but not for the moment. I'm nearly done with fullsets, getting everything i ever wanted.
Probably Gamecube, there is like 300 titles or so only, and i have already 150.
I can say how many GB/GBC games there was in Japan: 1282
And 981 GBA Games.
But exclusives in Japan,i don't know, you should compare with accurate US or European lists

You are thinking wrong: Japanese lists are 10 times more accurate than any US or European list. You have many books listing them, with release DAY, official price.
Not a single european or US list does that..they barely say month of release, never the day.
I understand japanese, and I used the most accurate list in Japan: Daigirin (formerly used for compiling tricks&cheats for all games)
Then i crossed it with other lists on the web, The Nintendo Japan website official one when it was still online, and very accurate lists like:
http://homepage2.nifty.com/gamedatabase/software/DB_NTC2_SFC_top.html
This URL counts 1480 games, because of the mutiple version of same game (3 for Fire Emblem Thracia 776 for example, when i only have the DELUXE box, which is the most complete of all 3, or 2 for Metal Slider Glory Director's Cut, or NORMAL AND Nintendo Power release of Powe Sokoban,etc..)
I said 1450 approximatively.
You can just count them on the pictures.
I have more than 1450 in fact, because i added some Nintendo Powxer exclusive games(but i'm missing 4-5 of them like Columns or Wizardry 1-2-3).
When i was talking about 100% fullset, i'm speaking about the games SOLD IN STORES, with a release date, official price, box and instructions. I have 100% of them for sure (studying the subject for 15 years now).

Probably Gamecube, there is like 300 titles or so only, and i have already 150.
Are there really that few Japanese Cube games? Wow... the 550 or so US titles (full set) that I own (plus all demo and kiosk disks) wasn't too much of a push given time and dedication. And some money. I can't see the Japanese equivalent being too tricky, apart from a few bits which I know are rare (Pilgramage mat for example).
Until you said you didn't care about Sony, I was going to suggest your next project be a full PS1 set :p

I believe there's about 1,200 games for the Famicom. If not, it's most likely less than that.
One of Japan's countless variety shows had a special where their task was to find every Famicom game ever released in Akihabara. They got all but ~50. Looked kind of fishy. The price they paid for Mario All Stars was considerably lower than the usual price in Akiba. Not sure how long it took them... I think it was a matter of weeks (2-3). Which also seems fishy, as there's always going to be some obscure title that's not necessarily hot or pricey that will be hard to find.
Most (if not all) were not boxed.

Holy cow... amazing!
And I really dig seeing it since the Super Famicom times were my fondest memories of kicking back in Japan during my college days. Seeing all those boxes together really bring back memories of that time where the shelves were filled the MegaDrive & Super Famicom (and yeah, Gameboy) l33tn3ss ...before the yucky psx era kicked in LOL
Nice collection man. That's some crazy amazing dedication :)

While we're asking how many games there were for each console...
How many games WERE there for most consoles, anyway? Particularly 8 and 16-bit?
And where can I find complete lists?

I believe there's about 1,200 games for the Famicom. If not, it's most likely less than that.
There are 1254 games, but that INCLUDES 200 Famicom Disk System games.
Only 1050 cart games approx. then.
Do you sell off all of you full sets when you are finished collecting them, do you only sell some, or do you keep them all?
I still have them all simultaneously,of course.
It'd be too easy to get them 1 after 1,with the money you got by selling the previous one.
Exactly.It took them like 2 days,no more.
Their task wouldn't be the same if they have to be boxed, probably double price if not triple.
And IIRC, there were not caring about the FDS Games.
They paid like 3 million yens,no?

Already done back in 2001, dude! :)

I'd have to watch again (it's *somewhere* on Youtube) but that sounds about right. Indeed, finding Famicom games (even SFC) is a challenge these days. Not only are they flimsy, but it was common to trash them apparently. :(
Right,80-90% of FC/SFC games around the world are loose.
Opposite for CD/DVD games,90% of them around the world have their box&instructions (since instructions IS the cover).
I'm having a hard time finding Famicom Disk games complete too, with case, instructions, sticker, outer plastic case WITH matching barcode.
Especially write only games, like Clu Clu Land, who is worth 100000 Yens complete just because you have the paper instruction :(
Found the topic in Assembler:
http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13958&highlight=famicom
It was 1.35 million yen to get all the 1053 games (then, not counting FDS),minus 8 they didn't manage to find. But why do they speak of All Night Nippon SMB,since it is a FDS game? Why this FDS game, and no others?
But of course they were loose.I'm pretty sure complete ones would have cost them like 3 million yens.
Youtube videos were:

Or in 2 parts:

But they've been removed.

As impresive as it all is, I can only say a few things.
1.Thank god, now that's one less person to compete with for the SFC stuff I want.
2.I'm not seeing it but if it's there, perhaps you can direct me but where's the Super Gameboy 2? I only ask because I've been wondering for some time what the port on the side was good for. I figured it allowed the system to be hooked up to it?
3.Pachinko controler? I know there were a few made for it and there was atleast one that was done up simular to an arcade stick that looked realy nice.
4.Just where did you find all 4 versions of Emit? I've been looking for ANY version for years now without he least bit of luck. At that, how much did they run you?
5.Replace Emit with Angelique and cut it down to the two special boxes and same question. I've only found the saturn version in the LE and it always fetches more then I could pay.
6.That fire Emblem box looks great as well. Was it just a promo item or did it see retail release?
Over all I'm greatly impressed at it all. Its almost as large as my entire collection and all for one system which alone should be shocking. You know, if you ever listed your stuff in USD I'd be all over your b/s threads in a heartbeat.

Something I've always wondered about big collections like these...do people get them insured? Or, is there even such a thing available?

1) :)
2) I didn't picture Super Gameboy 1&2,but i have them.
However those are accessories,not games.
The port on the side of the SFC was for CD Rom extension, which never came out..?
3) There are surely plenty of pachinko controllers, but i'm not into accessories.
4) You can easily find the 3 Emit here:
http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b84029120
There are plenty of them.and Cheap ($30 for all 3).
But finding Emit Value Set,well good luck it took me 5 years to locate it.It appeared 1 time on Yahoo, and i grabbed it.Even for $500 i was ready to take it.I got it for approx $150,but as said earlier,i paid premium price for a carton box only, since when you open it,you get EXACT 3 Emit releases. But i had to find it. Even for $500 i won't sell it, because to me that's clearly the rarest SFC release.
5) There are 3 Angelique releases on SFC IIRC: Angelique, Angelique Voice Fantasy and Angelique Premium Box. hardest to find is the Voice Fantasy i think.
6)It was Deluxe pack retail release of the game,in Lawson shops.
Finally, I'm not planning selling any of the games.
Thanks. :)

Personally, yes it's fully insured,it is possible in my country as long as you can provide invoices/payment statements in case of robbery/theft/fire/water damages,etc..
They'll refund me 100% of the price i paid.
But insurance isn't cheap.
