Hi everyone, I had a couple of questions on peripherals and wires for the Turbo, I've looked on Wikipedia and the Internet to try and find a definitive answer but have been unsuccessful in doing so. If anyone would be willing to answer them, I would be greatly appreciative!
#1: I currently have a TurboGrafx 16 (not a Duo) and would like to be able to connect it to a newer TV without having to use an RF modulator. Is there any way that I can effectively do this without buying a TurboBooster?
#2: I bought a TurboTap on ebay the other day, if I ever buy a TurboDuo, will I be able to us the Turbo Grafx original controllers and the TurboTap with the Duo or do I need to buy a DuoTap and the Duo controllers?
#3: Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might be able to find a Duo system at? I'm willing to pay $300, eBay rarely gets them on there anymore, anyone know of any places I might be forgetting to look at?
Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

1. You can have your Turbo grafx modded for Composite out. Check in the technical forum or contact www.oldschoolgamer.ca. However, without the turbo booster plus or the CD system, you can't save games. You will have to use the exceedingly long password system for stuff like Neutopia.
2. No. You have to have something called a Reverse tap. Those are not easy to come by.
3. Once the buying and selling opens up, you can try asking there. Be forewarned: Turbo stuff is getting scare. Duo are going to be costly.

I have 2 Duo systems for sale right now. I'd say Duo's are as scarce as Duo buyers ;)

I'll chime in with the typical warning here. Be careful buying Duos, the hardware (while gorgeous) is notoriously flaky. Sound capacitors dry up, lasers go bad, ports need to be resoldered... But it's so worth it when you get a good one!

Duo-Rs and Duo-RXs don't usually have those problems (though I have heard of bad lasers on those systems), but those issues are definitely true of the original Duo. I own a PCE Duo and I just tested the CD part of it earlier today to make sure the sound wasn't going out. Thankfully it's fine, at least for now.

Ok, I guess I'm going to ask another stupid question (sorry) what's the difference in the different models of the Duo system? If I'm looking for one JUST to play the American Turbo games that I have and the dozen American CD games that I've never been able to try, will any of the other models work? And also, are they cheaper and easier to come by? Thanks for everyone's responses and help!

No worries man, I love Turbo Discussions.
Here is what I have experienced:
Turbo Duo and PC-engine DUOs are prone to sound failures. I've heard that they have problems with lasers and motors, but I have yet to have the laser and motor problem. I did have the sound issue with my Turbo duo.
Lemme break it down for you:
USA: Turbo Duo- Plays all US Hucards, CD-roms, Cd-Rom2, and Super CD-Rom games.
JPN: PC-engine Duo, PC-engine Duo-r, PC-engine Duo-RX- plays JPN Hucards, and all the CD games listed above including Arcade CD games with the Arcade Card.
The Duo-r model is supposedly the best out there. And the duo rx is the same (from what I've heard) for the exception of a pack-in 6 button controller.

I read here a lot, really don't have that many questions. My collecting is pretty much focused on CD-I stuff, which no one really has an interest in anymore...
