Was just thinking about what I would do with all my stuff once I got really old...I guess I'd pass it on to my kids? What will you do?
I'll never sell it. I regret selling the games I did years ago, so I doubt I'll ever do it again.

Not everything there would always be something I'd want to keep out of it all.

My kids are gonna be too cool for my crap. I've already started selling all these "earthly possessions." Can't say I regret it either, feels awesome. I no longer see a reason putting my life (basically) into hoarding a collection, etc.
My guitars stay though. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i107/mark30001/mrgreen.gif

Thats a tough question.
If I were to take a dirt nap, where would my collection go? Usually the most common answer would be to my children like everyone sys. However, what will THEY do with it? Hock it for one, keep for two if htey really love it. As for the stuff that I just find on a whim, if I can get money for it, I'm ok. For example, I found an MGS Original Soundtrack. I got it at a very cheap price and I hope to triple my investment. I'll see down the road how my collection goes. If someone is interested in it, I'll sell it.

If you asked me this 2002-2005 I would have said no. But today, I can definitely see myself parting with my Saturn collection, which is no longer beloved as it once was. Right now, I'd say no to selling my SNES collection, but who knows, that could well change in a couple, several years from now, as you change and that funny little thing called life.
History may well repeat itself, but not for a couple years at least. I do know for a fact, most likely, that this is my last gaming hurrah.

Years ago I would've gladly sold everything except the games and consoles I really love.
Today I would gladly sell everything except the games and consoles.

i would, if the price is right (basically if it would pay off my student loans of almost 60k) and my collection isnt worth that much.. i dont think.

i could comfortably sell at least half of what i have now and not feel bad about it. however, the concept of putting it all up for sale and dealing with that is very not tempting.
maybe later on i'll go through and make a list of the stuff i would want to keep no matter what. i'm thinking it would end up being like
NES and 50 or so games
Genesis and 10 or so games
SNES and 10 or so games
and I could get rid of the rest and in all honesty would probably never miss it.

If I ever grew tired of gaming to the point I couldnt look at games without feeling disgusted, very posibly.
If I ever found myself with something I felt was more important in my life then the mindless entertainment gaming gave, definitly.
If I was ever offered enough money that I could buy it all back 5x over at top price, god yes.
I often worry if I define my gaming habbits or my gaming habbits define me. I'd like to believe that I can stop buying games any day or that I can stop playing them as well. That makes it sound like an addiction and that's not exactly something I enjoy the sound of but reguardless, I still wonder and ask myself the same question. If it all disapeared, reguardless of me having something to show for it, be it money or something traded for, what would I do then? Would I start all over again or would I just walk away and never give gaming a second thought? With over 1500 games and 25 years invested in games, I've spent almost as much time playing games as I've been alive.

Life or death situation, I'd do it. Otherwise not planning on getting rid of at least the core of my stuff. I have idly considered dropping the home computer stuff (like X68000), but I actually haven't played those games enough to be able to make that sort of decision. X68000 has lots of horizontal shooters, and those don't really grab me.

I have a genuine binge and purge problem with games: I collect like mad for a few months, acquire a backlog of games I feel I have to play since I've spent the money on them, then sell or trade off the ones I know I'll never get around to playing.
Honestly, I have my entire NES, Genesis, Neo Geo, SNES and PS1 collection on my PSP anyway. It wouldn't bother me unduly if I had to sell my crap. After all, it's just 'stuff'.

I'll keep it until I'm so old that I can't play the games anymore. Then I'll sell it all and take a nice trip or something I suppose.

I had a bizarre thought this morning about selling off my entire collection. Just sort of thought about it. I don't think I'll ever seriously consider it though. Plus I was pissed off when I woke up, so yeah. Waking up earlier than 7:30 kills me.

I honestly cared for a while about keeping my games but when it comes down to it...It is just taking up more space. And once I have beaten a game why go back to it. Only 2 games I have EVER gone back to play through again afters years have passed. Xenogears and FFVII, thats it.
So I really just have an attitude right now of ok well I play the game, beat the game, sell the game. That is it. If its online like COD4 or in future GTAIV, then I just keep it for that reason only. But I am slowly just selling my older PS2/PS1 games because their just there sitting doing nothing.
I look at it like this sometimes too. There is someone out there right now who could be enjoying the game I own and that I Don't play.

Naw, I don't ever sell shit, unless I bought it to sell. I doubt I'll ever need the money bad enough to sell or anything.
I can see me stopping collecting as I am pretty capricious that way, but not getting rid of the collection.

Selling my collection??????....Is this an Aprils fool joke or what?....Theres no way!....Just to think of all of the Stress and frustration I've encounter when trying to out bid people on Ebay at the last second!....I have been thinking to pass it on to one of my nephews when I'm gone...But so far none of them deserve it!...Time will tell....

I dont consider a hobby a problem... that being said I like what i like so i am not interested in stoping it - it doesn't hurt anyone and its not out of control... In my opinion!
Probably leave it to my kids but hopefully thats a long way away - I just don't understand the mindset that we all have a problem. - if i spend $100 and buy 100 games for machines like the 2600 I think that that was money well spent. I put them on the shelf - check off the appropriate columns and make sure they work.
People come to my house and say they "think i have a problem" but if i go to someones house and see a 7k oriental rug on the floor underneath there dining room table I supposed to go "wow thats nice"!
Really what it all boils down to is why do i collect...
I like providing an atmosphere of entertainment for my friends that they can not find any where else.
I like playing games.
I like collecting things.
It brings back child hood memories.
Nothing compares to the reaction I get from someone who has not played Wizard of Wor in 20 years and they get to sit down and do exactly that right now!!!
Back to the topic at hand - I regret selling every game i ever sold when it was not a duplicate - I have no plans to sell any games in the future... but only because there is no need.

Sell the whole thing never, but as you get older tastes can change. I have been selling all my RPG as I doubt I will ever play through them again.

Hard question... but yah, I think I would. Not sure when, but I'm sure I will someday. I'll come to the realization that I'm sitting on probably $10k worth of NES stuff lol

Seems backwards to me.

If the price was right, or it was a life/death situation then yes I would sell, then again I would be getting more money than its worth so i could buy it all again and then some.

I'd have a really hard time getting rid of any of my games or systems. Especially if it was all at once, I just wouldn't know what to do. There are way too many good memories with my games, even the god awful ones like Shaq Fu I wouldn't want to give up because I just love games, even if they are horrible, I get a kick out of a crappy game now and then.
